The Itinerant AnglerWhat's up, Lando! Nice to see you back. That's a pretty awesome summer if you ask me. Thanks to our epic freaking rains I managed to have fewer days on the water than any time in recent memory. I probably fished less than a dozen times all summer. Is that a mountain whitey about halfway down or a big grayling? Its gills look cool.
By the way do you bugle the elk in or stalk them?

That fish came from down on Wood Rd. (or up on Wood Rd.? I’m not sure of the configuration out there). That’s Rene’s son Zach. Ian and Zach and I walked the cliff tops and spotted that one from above; I bailed down the cliffs and got below it and fed it a nymph while Ian conned the shots from up top. It ate on the third drift and Zach (thank God!) slid down the cliff face to help me net it. Those Henry’s Fork fish are so powerful and there’s so much moss in that section. I needed the assist.
By the way, how did you get up above that angler for that one shot?

The Itinerant AnglerWell done dude. I’m shocked the fish were catchable with the weather as cold as it has been this weekend. 66 in August in Atlanta?!
Good job.

The Itinerant AnglerJay that looks good man. The interior finish on a drift boat is so rough, by the time you hit it with paint I bet it’ll be impossible to tell where the patches were.
I am sure I’m not the only one following this thread with great interest.

The Itinerant AnglerSick, Corey. Is that the Railroad Ranch at the bottom?

The Itinerant AnglerThose are great Corey. That last one has catalog all over it. Good to see you back man.

The Itinerant AnglerThat is an amazingly fine rifle stock. What is that, a lever-action Weatherby Mark V .30-30 or something along those lines?
Great stuff John. I am a huge fan of Sitka camo, largely because of the technical aspects of the clothing. I feel like the green Optifade Forest is *too* green, however, even though I hunt in Georgia where it stays lush deep into deer season. My stuff is all the blander Open Country–the same shade my boy Vlad Putin wears. Hahaha. I am sure Sitka was psyched when those pics circulated the internet…
Personally I think the crow hunting shot with the flying shell is my favorite, but the blood was no doubt hard to capture. What provinces were these shot in, John?

The Itinerant AnglerGorgeous Mike. Looks like that Dodge went to sleep with a good set of tires…
I supposed when you build out of solid hardwood, you’ve got a right to expect it to stand for a bit. Reminds me of this hotel I stayed at in Canterbury, England. It was pretty much a square wooden box built around a central three or four-story staircase, made entirely of solid huge cuts of hardwood. Over the *five centuries* it had been in business the central staircase had settled so that you ascended while sloping to your left (and descended with the slope to your right). But dude, that thing had another 500 years in it for sure with a little modern foundation lift.

The Itinerant AnglerWow John, what kind of filets were those? Were those brook trout? Hardly count as “brook” up your way…

The Itinerant AnglerIt’s looking pretty legit, Jay!

The Itinerant AnglerThat’s hilarious Justin.
Those will absolutely work. I literally hit a redfish in the skull with one and he just spun around and ate it.

It is really hard to beat a silly putty spoon for simplicity.
They are also ridiculously effective on a wide range of saltwater fish, including redfish.

The Itinerant AnglerHonestly it seems incredibly dangerous to me. Even if the sharks aren’t after you, you’re in the way. This is about like screwing around with bison in Yellowstone to me — not technically “dangerous” but still a stupid idea.
I’ve also had sharks come up to the pontoon and circle me, usually when I was keeping fish and there was blood in the water.

The Itinerant AnglerIt WORKED! Hahaha! That was not as hard as I thought.

The Itinerant AnglerWhoops! I think I accidentally cleaned Mike’s account out when I was deleting some spammers. Sorry Mike! I’m trying to get it fixed.

The Itinerant AnglerThat’s just the time stamp thing, Mike. See my other post. It’ll sort itself out in less than 4 hours.

The Itinerant AnglerDo we know anyone who has actually caught a fish on this yet?
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerThanks guys.

The Itinerant AnglerAnnoying. I set the clocks on the board properly (thanks Scott K.) and it seems to have gone a bit squirrelly.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerYeah Sitka does a great job with their blog, and so does Mystery Ranch (Mystery Rants). There’s a lot of crossover in that Bozeman area for hunting/fishing/hiking/climbing.
