    Hey Guys,

I’m headed up to the states here in a bit for the first time in three years, and meeting Uncle Tweed out in New Orleans for some redfish exploration. Anybody have any experience out there? Some pattern suggestions maybe?

    Thanks a bunch,

There are many great flies you can use on redfish. However, I have caught more redfish on the Waldner spoon fly than anything else. Maybe that is because when I tie something else on Rich implores me to go back to his spoon fly. I have cast that BEHIND fish and they have turned around and nailed it. You can look on Uptown Angler for some ideas and also go to: http://www.laflyfish.com/cgi-bin/bforum/index.php

    Justin –

It is really hard to beat a silly putty spoon for simplicity.

They are also ridiculously effective on a wide range of saltwater fish, including redfish.

Excellent how-to writing Zach, and thanks for the link. I do have a few of those already in my box down here actually, and use them, but you can see the reaction they get from locals; this is Paulino Arias, the Godfather of fly fishing in my area of Chubut province, laughing so hard he can’t even keep his eyes open. I’ll pack em’ up for New Orleans though for sure!

    That’s hilarious Justin.

Those will absolutely work. I literally hit a redfish in the skull with one and he just spun around and ate it.

Redfish slider my brother. All day everyday. In rust, white and mardi gras.

But this is my standard redfish cocktail
