The baggage limits are another bummer. I absolutely hate flying now. There is simply too much hassle in my opinion….from TSA, to boarding the aircraft…to schlepping luggage….but I digress.

To beat the 50 lb per bag restriction…I’m wearing my heavy wading boots on the flight…..might even wear my waders as well. Screw ’em. TSA can fondle my junk all they want. I ain’t paying the extra fee.

    Now…deep breath.

    Thanks for letting me vent.

    Benjamin,

    Good question.

I typically fish (and camp) in Alaska during the salmon run. Food is everywhere. The bears are gorging themselves full of sockeye. As long as you don’t look and smell like a sockeye…no problems.

The Yellowstone bears on the otherhand….seem to always be desparate for their next meal. Most have made the connection between backpackers and food by raiding camps. They act totally different than the AK bears when they are around humans.

Of course I offer my disclaimer…this has been my experience.

The hard-core Gheenoers in FL use Bob’s Jack Plate….twice as much as the Bass Pro model:

I’ve backpacked and fished extensively in YNP, particularly the Lamar and Slough Creek watersheds…..ditto for Alaska. I’ve seen plenty of brown bears (or grizzlies) in both places. Let me tell you….I’m terrified of the Yellowstone bears….the AK bears not so much.

Joe…legit question. I’ve had waaaay too many basal cell skin cancers removed. My doc says the damage was done 20 years ago and is just now surfacing. I’m not sure why other outdoor folk don’t cover up….especially bass fishermen.

Water refracts most of the suns rays so I guess the danger is more prevelant around water sports.

The “Buffs” also protect from biting insects. Mine saved me in Alaska.

    Peter,

What will be the dimensions? I’d suggest 16 foot and at least 52″ wide amidships. You can then carry three folks comfortably.

    Zach,

You’ve really got a nice smooth coat on there. Did you wet sand the last coat….or leave it as it is?

I usually buy a DT (Courtland 444) because of the two-for-one deal. Use it till it wears out, and then turn it around….and use it some more.

Disclaimer: This is strictly for a small stream application where casts are 30 feet or less.

At least this is my theory….am I missing something? Of course if the manufacturers would cease making the DT….I’d have to buy a line twice as often.

    Looking good (or tit)!

I like the high gloss! Is the paint (in the above photo) completely dry?

Do me a favor…get some registration numbers with a little character as opposed to the standard font stuff you find at Walmart.

    Zach,

What paints are you using for the interior and exterior?

I’m guessing Brightsides Polyurethane for the interior or something similar. I’m particularly interested to know if you used a two-part epoxy based paint on the exterior.

I like that Razorback Red 😉

    Zach,

I removed the rails on mine in order to paint….and you’re right….it makes things easier. I do have a question though. If you are going to move the holes to the left or right and inch or two….wouldn’t this leave some “un riveted” holes in your rails? I used the same holes in the rails and hull. I drilled the holes out slightly larger and used the next larger rivet from the stock size. The rails fit nice and tight….just like it came from the factory.

Nevermind….I re-read and see you are gonna bondo the holes.

    Looking tit!
