On the road in Dallas the other day saw Kansas plate – LVFISHN. Sounds good to me. When I was doing a bit more rock crawling, my Cruiser had ELEV8. I know, it can get goofy fast. shannon
Maybe it is one of these, but I like the show (the part of a show) that has “Knot Wars”. In these hard times, I think many of these shows seem further removed from reality than ever before – like watching Robin Leach fishing at times. shannon
It seems most new DSLR’s nowadays are actually designed to have the extra grip attached – they seem to just look right and feel right. Upside – faster motor speeds on High and many more exposures without having to change batteries. The whole battery change in the heat of the moment can be a real buzz kill. Downside – weight and size. Shannon

My sister just sold Vol. 7 to some guy in Europe for 37.usd. Good stuff, and I have all except first two. shannon

I’m still hung up on “propitiate”. I gotta use that word! I bet a wheel cutter would do the job of cutting. I am wondering about the tail actually. I purchased some from saltwaterflies.com (the top shelf grade), and they were substantially better than anything we can find off the shelf in Texas. There was a suggestion by a much more experienced friend that they were “Northern” whitetails with different qualities. I just don’t want to waste time dumpster-diving at the local processor for inferior tails. I’ll race you to that Best book! shannon

OK, I need this stuff. A quick google and click over to Amazon shows there are more than one manufacturer of “Reiviex”, or at least a lot of different incarnations. Which of these would one want? Shannon
I think the price fluctuations are due to rubberbanding of supply and demand. Discontinuing the 800? … I think I’ll keep my three. The 900 has a reputation for huge energy consumption, and until they figure out how to get built in dedicated radio communication – flash-to-flash, I’m not going anywhere even if the controls on the back of the 900 are easier. The whole line of sight dedication thing is spotty so much of the time. shannon

I was tracking down the Snowbee-Waldron for a friend, and here is what I got back from England – http://ogilvieoutfitting.com/ – is the North American contact. Hmm, now why wouldn’t some enterprising US citizen want to have a distributorship for Snowbee? Hmmmm. shannon
The margins are better for the other than brand name lenses without question. But, the reason the names make cheaper lines of lenses is so they (their lenses) can be part of “packages” rather than sacrificing that income to other lens makers. So, the names make a “low line” of lenses as well. shannon
So is there no US retailer of Snowbee-Waldron? Sounds like a business opportunity for someone. shannon
After all these years I have noticed one thing for certain, folks need reassurances when buying other than Nikon or Canon lenses for their Nikon or Canon camera. If you want a lens that (in all likelihood) you will put on your camera and not put the images under the microscope in worry, or wonder “is it as sharp as _____?”, buy the brand names. What I think it is safe to say has happened over the years is that Tamron and others have significantly narrowed the gap between themselves and the brand names. Narrowed not closed. In the old days, you really were rolling the dice with anything other than brand name glass as I remember it. Most of the gaps in actual image quality may be subtly filled with Photoshop skills in my opinion. Mechanics is another, more difficult, variable though.shannon
