I went to the Nashville show too and it was very worth it.

May I suggest a category for “Sounds FREAKING AWESOME but I would never be able to afford it”

Seems like there is a lot of that kind of thing.

I would also recommend getting the kayak carrying accessory. Also, if you can get the adapters that attach the rack to your rain gutters rather than the factory roof rack I think you will like that better. Those rain gutter racks are strong as an ox.

Shane, if you look under the archived podcasts there is a really good podcast on the smoky mountains park. Even if you don’t find the answer to your question there is a lot of good info

Zach, I regret mentioning the volume thing. It is much better and I don’t have any room to complain.

The new ones are much better on the volume control.

    I value the podcasts.

I don’t find every subject or guest interesting but most of them are very good. I think that it speaks to the effort put into them that the music is new each time and very unique. nice touch.

If I had one criticism it would be volume control. At times, the guest can be hard to hear but the interviewer too loud and vice versa.

Overall the topics are varied and interesting and I like them. I’m looking forward to more.

Ok, so I’ve done some more research since the original post and I’m leaning toward the Costa Blackfins. They look like they will block out most of the light in peripheral vision with the big fat frames and there is a shop within driving distance that will make the prescription lenses (I should have mentioned, I’m a 4-eyes). I did notice that there is a big up-charge for the glass lenses over the polycarbonate. Is there much of a difference in visibility? Are they that much easier to scratch?

Back to the color. It seems like most everyone likes the copper. Has anybody tried the Vermillion?

    Thanks for the advice everybody.

    Hey Chris

I’m hearing lots of good things about the redfishing in south carolina. Thinking about taking a vacation to that area next summer. Any tips on where to go for some DIY saltiness?

    BTW Welcome.

I never would have thought of the wire nut for the head of a rope fly. How did you work that out? Details?

For sheer numbers I find a black bluegill spider with white legs (you can find the pattern on the internet or there is a book by terry and roxanne wilson.) but topwaters are more fun. Sometimes bluegills will hit any topwater but when they won’t an ant fly with rubber legs will usually get it done.

Don’t let these guys give you any lip about fishing bluegills either. Bluegills are fun, I fish for them, and probably everybody else here has fished for them too.

Thanks for the advice guys. I’ve been away from computer access for a few days, I hope nobody thinks that I was ignoring them.

I have contacted a dealer nearby but he doesn’t have any in stock right now. I’m encouraged enough to try to load one once the dealer gets some in-stock.

Anybody have any warranty experience? In the event that I do crack the boat will the warranty hold up?

    Thanks for the advice,

It sounds like most everyone is pretty negative about cartopping. I didn’t even consider the possibility of cracking the hull!?! Zach, can you explain a little more? Is it that the sides are too fragile to hold the weight of the boat?

Unfortunately, with the current living situation a trailer just isn’t an option. If the riverhawk doesn’t work out are there other squared-off canoe designs you would recommend?

    Thanks again.

    I would like to see:

    1. A device to hold the rod while the fish is in the net. I have a home made rig set up to do this now but it is difficult to latch with one hand

    2. A device to transport pontoons or float tubes back upriver that can be transported on the pontoon and will fit in the car.

    3. A square stern canoe that is appropriate for car topping. All the ones I have seen are either too heavy to be carried over any real distance or do not have carrying yokes.

    4. Water proof cellphones. Not water resistant, water proof.
