    Hi All,

This August the wife and I will be going to Yosemite national park for about a week. We went to Yellowstone last year and really enjoyed fly fishing there. I’m hoping for a similar experience at Yosemite.

Has anyone fished in Yosemite before? Where is a good place to go? Can you recommend any flies for late august/early september? Any guidebooks, websites, or other references you can recommend?

Although I am sure that a guide is the best way to get into fish quickly budget constraints mean that a guide is pretty much out of the question. Also, since the wife will be fishing with me, I would rather stay away from any really gnarly rapids or extreme backcountry.

    Thanks for the info.

Also, if Zach Matthews reads this, I really enjoyed the article in American Angler this issue. The template for the Stealth Bomber was especially useful. I wish more articles would include templates for complicated patterns.

Yosemite is nothing like Yellowstone as far as fishing is concerned.

I spend a few weeks in the back country every summer, and this year the later the better.

Forgot one thing, don’t forget the bug spray, in years like this, you will be very very sorry.
