Step one: Fry the wings (deep fired, no batter, flour, or anything else)
Step Two: Spin the wings (flip in a pan) of hot melted butter and Crystal’s Wing Sauce (Texas Pete works fine too)

This and then step one and two again. Twice fried wings are good stuff. Or you can smoke them for a bit and then fry. That also makes a tasty wing.

I love to fish with my wife and kids, nothing better. I also love to fish with my dad. He’s the guy that taught me and will always be my favorite fishing buddy, even though he’s not a fly fisherman.

But you are right, good fishing buddies are hard to find. But don’t ever give up. Buddies have come and gone but the last couple of years I have been really blessed.

And for those days when you just really don’t want to put up with anyone’s bullshit, there is the perfect fishing partner.

Anyone know where I can score some of those flexible double-sided razorblades?

I get mine at Walmart. Walgreens has them too.

I’ve used Smugmug for a little over a year and really like it. It has all the features you are looking for. It isn’t free, but it isn’t much either. Think it’s around $60 a year. They have one that’s a little cheaper with less options and one that’s a little more expensive.

The deal actually ends at at noon today. So you still have time if you want it.

It really depends on where you are going to use it and what you are going to use it for.

An aluminum canoe here on the rivers in the Ozarks is not good. They are noisy and the aluminum doesn’t glide over the rocks like plastic will. But if that’s not the type of water your are fishing then my suggestion is pointless.

I can cast out of my Old Town pretty well just sitting down, I can, but rarely stand and I’m a big guy. But most of my fishing is spent with the canoe sitting on a gravel bar while I get out and wade the area.

Saying the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri covers a lot of different areas. But yes there are plenty of smallmouth streams in this wonderful state.

    Current River
    Jacks Fork
    Eleven Point
    and many, many more.

I haven’t used mine much except in the pool, but it works great.

“it will be over by the end of summer”.

I think you may be right. Judging from the ramblings of 3 daughters, there will be one more rush right before school starts and hopefully that will be the end of it.

I’m thinking that it would be difficult to tie the line on the fly.

The heads fold back easily so you can tie it on.

By the way, whereever you go, DON’T go to http://www.stripedbassmounts.com.

Can you believe this?  I can’t believe people would pay money for such a travesty and call it “taxidermy.”  Even more, I can’t believe that THIS is the example they’d want to put on the Internet to advertise as a proud representation of the quality of their work.

That thing is horrible. Notice how nobody on there holding a fish is smiling. I would be smiling if I just wen to pick up my mount, unless it looked like those.

the reel seat is leaving me a little cold for some reason.  I think I just like silver and black.

I agree, just something odd looking about the color. The seat on the 8wt looks much better. Anybody want to give me $700 and I will see how it casts?

Steve is an awesome guy. Not going to meet a more entertaining and funny fly shop owner. Been a long time since I’ve seen him but it’s good to see he is doing great.

Somehow missed this before. Nice report on one of my favorite places. It’s been producing some nice fish this year.

Have you tried the lower Wire Road area?
