I have been playing around with these magic heads lately and like the action they give the fly. I think this version of a murdich minnow will entice some of our local river bass.

Looks like it would move a lot of water. I’m thinking that it would be difficult to tie the line on the fly.

Looks like a good fly though. Nice and original.

The heads fold back easily so you can tie it on.

    What effect do those have?

could you trim the top side back to give it a crankbait type action?

That’s a great fly Chris.  The magic head works well, but over the past year I have effectively switched to Gregg’s Fly Lipps instead http://www.feather-craft.com/wecs.php?store=feacraft&action=display&target=TL028.  If tied correctly (i.e. the plane of the lipps is “true [parallel to the long axis of the fly] the action is incredible.  I find the magic head snags too much moss for the locations I fish.

Again, that fly is good looking and will surely catch fish.

Thanks guys. The Magic head causes the fly to wiggle side-to-side the way a fish actually swims. I have seen the top cut, but as Neal mentioned if you are not precise with your cut the fly will move in an unnatural manner. Those are cool Neal, I will have to check them out too.

    Nice Fly.

I normally use the magic head for smaller size flies E.G. The Copperbully, Cutthroat goby.

They work like a Charm, But i going to give Neals fly lips a try.
