i put in a rubber tail order with my friend in denver, didnt’ think those things would be so hard to find on the internets and in NOVA.

there used to be a popper/slider from here called ‘mr. bobs lucky day’ that were awesome. die injected rubber. they would bounce off rocks or docks etc and never break. the fish tore off the eyes and legs and the’d still catch fish. i have a few tucked away. those fished with a damsel nymph dropper are killer.

i’ve got a pair of simms studded rubber sole. same pair for at least 7 years now.

can’t remember the model, they were sold at the local orvis store.

i can wear them for hours and hours and not feel worn out.
the only issues with them so far are one of the plastic ends on the laces just came off and the pull on loop on the heel broke.

    thats it.

i’ve said it before, i trust my life to those boots.

haven’t tried the patagonia. they only make quality products so i imagine its a good set of kicks

    the curly tail bunny

rubber tail (i can only find them on bobmarriot, i will try to make them myself from craft store)
    lead wrapped shank, dumbell eyes
cross cut rabbit wrapped from tail to eyeball
    tie in some rubber legs

i broke off a largemouth on a farm pond in bluemont a few years ago and had a client get a sleigh ride in his float tube using one on the lake in wva.

orvis sold them as a salty stripper fly several years ago

you will find their wings on the ground throughout summer as they are eaten by birds at night -body that is. wings are torn off and tossed away.

squeezing them does make them a hypodermic needle and what ever is in their gut will be injected into you

burning them will make them explode and spread what ever is in them all over you and your wound

use a sharp edge blade or business card/credit card and try to wedge them out

i know several people who’ve had to quit the AT due to Lyme disease.

they will eventually have to drop off once full, waiting it out is a catch 22- it will eventually have to drop yet prolonging its feeding could allow more bacteria to be transferred, think of this gal:

I use a tiny ross reel. The name/model slips my mind. It is probably the size of a chips ahoy cookie.

There is Orvis 2wt wonder line on it.

Caught a 19″ rainbow out of big hunting creek in Md.
That was an unexpected catch in a small stream.

It is lighter than my orvis battenkil 3/4 direct drag

would the sound attract or scare off bears?

    that was my first thought.

i use the generic breathe right strips. wish i could wear them all day long. to many fists and footballs to the face as a kid to breathe through my honker.

    summit county indeed

you have shopping in silverthorne which has everything from the outlet store to some big box shops, and the down town window shopping in frisco, window shopping up in breck, and some more in keystone.

fish the tailwaters: blue below dillon, blue below green mountain, dream stream below spinney, elevenmile below elevenmile res.

you can also drive west up to the frying pan.

i fish, wife skis. we both leave in the morning and meet up for apre-ski around 3-4 in breck. good times.

i have a small sit on top.

good fun and gets me to little nooks real quiet like

i did a 22 mile paddle in it a few weeks ago, went over a waterfall and ate it good. lost a box of smallie flies. – the only thing not tied down.

    got it on craigslist.

here is what i’ve been tying a bunch of

    mustad 1/0 salty hook
tie down 8-10 strands of salt water crystal flash (i’m using the chartruse one that glows in dark)
tie down barbell eyes over flash
tie in super clouser hair – white
flip fly over and tie in sparkle hair with an inch sticking past the eye
tie down and fold that inch back, over what you just tied down

it has a nice profile in the water and got me a nice small mouth in WVa. two weeks ago (before i flipped my boat and LOST ALL MY FRIGGIN SMALLIE FLIES)

the super hair gives the fly some bulk and the sparkle hair lays down nicely over the super hair to yield a fishy profile.

i’ll try to post pics maybe tonight. been tying a crap load for orders
