the most common thing I see in new flycasters that can lead to that is that I’ll bet your rod goes back to far on the backcast, this will make you lose line speed and cause your fly to fall before the rod is loaded.

Another way to drop the cast count is to head over to Ohio or PA, that would help a lot too. ;D

seriously if you want a pump go mossberg 500, the saftey being on top of the grip and the pump release in the back of the trigger gaurd are awesome fueatures.

use some picture framing wire make a loop on one end by wrapping it around a nail a couple times then half hitching the tag end to the main wire (this is your snare).
