MemberM Wood,
I have never met Tim England, but many of the fly tiers at the shows mention his name frequently and often swear that he is one of the best hair tiers in the world. Apparently he has been an inspiration for many others to create novel “cork-like” tightly packed flies by using steam and other techniques. He used to be a frequent contributor to Fly Tyer Magazine, but I haven’t seen any new articles by him in some time. Thus, I don’t know if he is still active.
My sources are not aware of any DVD’s or books authored by him. The best bet would be to contact Dave Klausmeyer
at Fly Tyer and ask if you can purchase reprints of his original articles. Here is a link from another board discussing Tim England. http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?showtopic=31817

MemberHey Guys
Kay, so I am off to Cuba
You could have stopped right there and I still would have shed a tear. The fish there are virgin, hungry, and untouched. You are seriously lucky my friend!
As for the shoots – focus on the fish first . . . catch a few and get it out of your system . . . then just take pictures at “any angle” and enjoy the memories.

MemberI am doing a lecture in Oklahoma city tonight an two nurses have saddle hackle on their hair. They each paid $60 to have two feathers braided into their hair. OMG that is a lot of money for two feathers.

MemberIf you need an “expert” assistant I will be happy to go along.
By “expert”, I am referring to fly fishing assistant only, hahaha.

MemberNeal,
I use the exact setup. Scott F703 + Abel TR1. Possibly my favorite combo for the summertime.
The F703 is one of my all time best purchases! It is one thing I simply don’t regret or second guess. In the mountain streams it is simply a joy. It was difficult to pair it with a good reel, but the Abel TR1 finally came my way and it is a perfect fit for that rod.
Because of that rod I will probably never flirt with getting a bamboo rod.

MemberWhy are we not all wearing Frog Togg jackets?
Because they aren’t made with true GORE-TEX® and they lack pit zips. For me that’s a big one. But I’m picky.
Here’s an old discussion on the topic from a hiking forum http://whiteblaze.net/forum/showthread.php?t=30331. Basically, it’s a good product and serviceable, but in the end it’s a personal preference and a debate on your own budget needs vs wants. My wading/rain jacket is 6 years old and still bullet proof despite heavy use.

MemberThose shots are great Tim! They really capture the mood of a misty morning fishing trip. I want to go there (ah hem . . . now, LOL).
By the way, I love the use of the rule of thirds on those first two shots.

MemberI personally love both the Z-axis and the Scott S4 in the 5-6wt line class. If I was pushed to pick a favorite (and it would be very close) I would choose the Scott S4, like Chris mentions above. However, I don’t fish 5wt rods, but I do own a 6wt Z-axis and a 6wt Scott S4; the later was recently given to me in a trade and I have fallen in love with that rod.
edit: I also love the 7wt Scott S4s for streamer fishing (and for bonefish/redfish in low-wind conditions).

MemberSweet shots CK.

MemberIt was great meeting you in Atlanta Brad! Glad you made it through the tour without too many scars (physical ones at least). I love your photo-report above, that is strong work.
How did it feel to hold the tiny rod in your hand 😉
