Thanks Rich, I tried Double take – they said it was free so I downloaded it and used it, yep, its very easy and very effective and then was told I had to pay. I don’t like that kind of sly marketing, would rather pay for something else. Will look at photomerge.

Nice pics Loren, love the shot of the 2 bones swimming. Those are rare shots. Peachy conditions too.

    Just costed the EWA v the Dicapac – $500 v $150, must be a bloody good piece of glass. ;D ;D ;D

I haver searched the net for a retailer and an opportunity to compare prices but apart from the Australian importer have not been able to find any other retailers. Anyone have any suggestions???

My two options are a Canon G11 with housing. You can pick these up pretty reasonably at the moment. I’ve had double page spreads shot on my G9, haven’t had the same opportunity with the G11 but it will come.

I have one of the Dicapaks and use my 5D in there with a 17-40. This is a great set-up but as mentioned by Ronnie not easy to set-up quickly and I would be too concerned with making a mistake. I would like a better quality port glass, you can see imperfections in it because it is only plastic of some sort.

When I set up this bag I have a couple of pieces of foam and a bag of silica gel that use to prop the body in place. I remove the front port and squeeze all the air out then without letting anyback in screw the front port on. This prevents it from moving away from the lens and causing vignetting. I also take the time to push the bellows back in because I want that front port right up hard against the front of the lens. Apart from that i am impressed with the bag. One of the reasons I bought it was so that i could get shots like this.

A source for those little foam popper heads would be good too, if anyone knows. Then I could make my own, or something similar, then it would be on a half decent hook for bass and other things.

    Thanks, Morsie

Some really good stuff here guys. I had a relatively quite year but really like this pic of a South island brownie moving in on a willow grub. Its one of a sequence.

I bought one of these straight away and like it a lot. It has given my old 5D a new purpose in life. I would like to see the bellows set up for the lens be able to be pinned back, there is some vignetting if you don’t hold it but its minimal. Think I’ll need to use some gaffer tape somewhere. Its durability may be of some concern but I’ll use a soft cooler pack to store the camera and the housing when its not in use. I think it will pay for itself very quickly.

Its my first self published book, previous 2 were published by established houses, 10% of retail price utterly sucks.

Disadvantages – its an awful lot of work, finding somewhere to store them. Unexpected stress levels.

Advantages – complete responsibility for the book, learning how to spell and punctuate more betterer,

Be careful with the Tokina 11-16 – its crap at anything below f8 but very good there and up. I use in A priority or manual only.

Steve the Cabellas deal was a one off, they guaranteed to take the lot, that’s a manufacturers dream, margins therefore are their business. No stock inventory for Sage, no R&D, no marketing, no reps commissions, no advertising………

If you want a slower rod just up line it. Some guys found the TXL a little fast for what they wanted so they ran a 3 line over a 2 rod.

Brian the bottom one looks like its been shot with a Lens Baby. How much control do you have over effects such as that or is the lack of control and mystery of what might turn up part of the appeal?

Brian I much prefer the landscapes you shoot with that contraption. Β πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ™‚

No doubt you’ll work out this macro dimension. Looking forward to seeing your results.
