MemberI’ve seen all the new fly fishing gear Patagonia is making. I must say that the stuff is pretty sweet.

MemberMark,
Most of my favorite carp flies are ones of my own creation. I stick with crayfish imitations mostly. I have some that are modified off production ties such as Rainy’s carptease as well. I have found that most production carp flies are not all that great to begin with.

MemberIf you guys are doing carp flies for the next swap I’m in.

MemberTodd,
Here is your 10x tippet: http://www.littlelehighflyshop.com/generic32.htmlThey even go down to 12x. Good luck with your new goal. My goal for the year is to land 200 carp on the fly. If we didn’t get all this rain I bet I would pretty close by now. I have basically lost out on a month’s worth of fishing. Least things are settling back down a little.

MemberZach,
Rainy’s got a few of them. Most of them are designed by Yuri Shumakov. If you can tie it on a hook, you can tie it on a tube.
Michael Exl
MemberHoly crap Todd!!!! Although I have to admit I’m shocked that you didn’t take it on one of those 32s you have.

MemberTim,
Get the HMH tube fly attachment. Don’t get the decked out kit, it’s a waste of money. The next thing you should get is a European needle for the attachment. The reason you will want to get this is so that you can tie with some of the semi-flexible tubing. Like the F.I.T.S. tubes that Guideline makes. This stuff is the way to go. You don’t have to worry about junction tubing. Putting on coneheads is a breeze. Not to mention you get a nice tapered nose. I get all of my stuff from The Fly Fishing Shop. Here is a link to the tube fly tools, http://www.flyfishusa.com/fly-tying/tube-fly-tools.htm#Starter
and here is one to the tubes.

MemberAll the female anglers I run into are in their late 40s and older. I want to know where all the 20 years old are at. And Zach the answer to looking so good, nope. :'(

MemberNice carp. After seeing this post I think I may have to go out tomorrow and land a few.

MemberMark,
Sorry I didn’t notice your question till know. Cruisers are difficult to get at times. You really need to be patient with these guys and try putting the fly right on there nose, and change the the fly up a lot till you get it right. I have had times where I had to change the fly 4 times before getting a take.
By the way I got out this afternoon and caught this one in honor of you.

I ended up only land this one and missed 5 others due to break offs. Little ticked at myself right now about it >:(, but can’t complain to much the creeks are actually fishable for once in 3 weeks. Time for me to pad my stats.-Mike

MemberThanks for the input so far guys keeping it coming. I may need to clarify more though. I’m going to be buy a new two-hander or two in the near future and was curious what line weight, rod length, and the type of line guys are using up there.

MemberNeal,
Thanks, I have to admit it is sort of funny being a guide, working in a fly shop, and on top of that getting college credit for it. I have to say I love the word “internship”. Only at Purdue could you get college credit for being a fly fishing guide. Only one word comes to mind when I think of this, and that is glorious.
Michael Exl
MemberMark,
Have you been able to land one yet? If you have I want to see pictures. I need to go out and pad my stats again, the creeks are actually fishable for once in the past 3 weeks over here.

MemberMulberry flies, that’s cheating. ;D I like the idea you have Mark. I would tie some that some that float and sink. A important thing to remember is that the carp will being keying on the noise of the berry hitting the water under the tree. You could do what I know some guys do and take some white egg flies and dye them with the mulberry themselves. Not my cup of tea, but I know it works.

Great series, how a cup series should be. Glad the Cup is coming back home where it belongs.

MemberI just messed around with the new Magnum taper the other day when the SA rep brought it to the shop. Its good, but I still can’t stand the noise. I myself can’t see the line burning up the guides. I know that the line will tear up your hand if you don’t tape it up for streamer fishing. Seen that plenty of times.
