    Hey   😉 ET,

I fished the Norfork and White last March, week 2 and while the weather was less than ideal, sleet one day, cold the rest, the fishing was really good. What’s nice about the area is that if they are running water on one the other may be off, and when they turn on the White, you still have a few hours to head down river and fish. You may have to spend some time in the car, but that’s not always bad that time of year. Make sure you have a portable coffee maker in the car, too.  On your way from St. Louis make sure to check out the River of Life Farm on the North Fork in Missouri. That time of year there are some real hungry fish. I was making my way from St. Louis to Birmingham last spring on a job change, so I was able to hit a lot of water between March 15th and April 15th.
I tried to fish GSMP week 3 march last year and it was totally blown out. Rained the entire 4 days there. Week 2 April was like night and day, and I would highly recommend. I think I filed a report on both. Good luck.

    Zach,

Great writing. Watch out Gierach. My feet still hurt, and I could almost feel the drops of dew dripping down my neck as you sat perched above the cave mouth. These are the times we all dream about and long for, and even if it’s just getting to be there through someone else’s experiences and writings, it seems real enough to get us by.

    Thanks,

    Zach,

The board is great. When it’s down things just aren’t the same. Thanks for all of your hardwork and dedication.

    SS,

Thanks. The G5 looks like a nice one. I think Canon as a whole has a great lineup of cameras, it’s just a matter of matching up your needs with their offering. I will hopefully hear from someone that has the A620 or better yet the A700. Nice photos.

    Drifter,

Can’t wait to see and hear all about your trip. I promised my son that we would take a trip up there next summer. I’ve been twice, and took him on the last trip, 2 summers ago. We went to the Anvik river for a week. I haven’t decided where to head next summer, so I’ll really be interested in your take on the different spots you’re headed.

    Take the Lowepro.
    You left something off, though.

Me. I think I could squeeze in the backpack with no problem & I’ll even carry it once we get there.

A cigar was definitely a savior on an early morning trip to the Everglades. There were so many bugs out before sunrise that I thought I was going to go mad. They were getting in every orifice on my face, and at one point I could hardly enhale without taking in a few dozen.

I haven’t taken mine off since I tried them. It’s unbelievable how light they are too. I got a color called brown, but they are more like an olive color so they don’t look too strange. Not sure I’d be caught on the river with an orange pair though. I think I hear banjos.

    Hey Zac,

Where can all of your photos be viewed?

in reply to: GSM- 6/1-6/4 #11968

Thanks. They both came from the pool below the bridge at EM. Several larger rainbows also came from there right at dark. The first brown came right above Metcalf bottoms.

in reply to: Eagle Claw…Feather Light Fly Rods… #11960

I actually did get a couple of rainbows on it but it was so difficult to throw a dry I decided to switch to a 7’6. My son has a 6’6 TFO that cast much better. I think if nothing else I can spray paint it green so I can get the tangles out easier.

Bought the 6’6″ off e-bay for $14.99. What a deal….not. I tried it out this weekend and it’s not much use.

    BH,

If the river is off, all the spots I mentioned are wadable. I’m sure a float trip would be awesome. The access for waders is very limited and you will most certainly not be alone.

    Good luck

    BH,

It’s a very enjoyable area. We stayed in Blue Ridge and the wife really enjoyed the Antique shopping, and Unicoi Outfitters at the end of main street can help you out. We had the best luck near the ball park just before you cross the main bridge and particularly good luck down at Curtis switch by the old bridge. The tailwater was not bad all the way up as far as you can go. Congrats and good luck.

I talked to the guys at AEG and they are working on a condensed addition to offer at itunes.

;D Shirts look great Zach !!!
My son and I are heading over to the Hiwassee after Church next Sunday for a couple of days. They are out of school Monday and Tuesday, and he’s dying to try out his new waders. He’s finally legal, 16, but I don’t know if that’s good or bad. I’m the one who will probably have to put up 2 license fees now.
