Thanks for the help guys. I have a 9 ft 6 wt a3 on my Christmas list but I don’t think it will be here in time. I think that would be a great rod for the fork or Colorado. I was thinking the same thing about my 4 wt which is that I can get by but that mending will be tougher for nymphs, but ill just pretend I’m fishing a bamboo stick.

Thanks again. Hopefully a good trip report to follow.

I was actually fishing the hidden valley sectionand did the 2 mile hike. Oh well, I guess I’ll just keep trying.

Mark, I’m down with a DC IA Conclave.

Zach, I just got a marmot “mystic” bag from sierra trading post this weekend. It’s rated at 20 degrees. It’s a synthetic. I decided to go synthetic b/c the rei salesperson really talked me into. It’s very easy for a bag to get wet in our chosen sport so I didn’t want to take a chance on that.

I also decided to go with a 20 as you can always add on a pair of thermals or a liner, but it’s hard to make it cooler if it’s hot out.

uThanks guys. I’m open to driving for about 5 hours each way. At this point I’m by myself and I don’t get to do roadtrips often so I don’t mind. Plus it would be new country to see. I’m ok to get a guide for a day if it’s recommended. I’m also interested in a one day float trip so factor that in as well.  I would prob do two days of fishing, one guided and one on my own. My main goal would be to get a good western trout experience and to catch some fish.  I’m open to any river.

Getting way too excited about this for June ;D but I have two little ones so I don’t get out enough!

Zach, not sure if you take recommendations for people to interview for podcasts, but i’d love to see one with Jeffrey Cardenas.
