Eric,

You can do the second meadow of Slough in a day, but it is a very long day, about 5 miles each way.

Take a deep breath and go fishing. These things tend to work themselves out when one has regained perspective by having moving water tugging on your legs and fish tugging on your line.

The Cuyahoga River in Ohio caught fire several times up until the 1960s as a result of massive pollution, especially oil, from shipping and steel factories, etc. nearby.
