For you guys who own one of those river jons, in addition to John’s stability question, I would be curious as to how skinny they can float.

I just don’t do it, except on a really rare occasion.  Any number more than 3 and you are looking at problems.  However, I agree that expectations are key when you do.  Phil is dead on.  Everyone needs to be on the same page with money, fishing locations, and schedule, before you go.

I have a couple of really close fishing buddies who I like to travel with, because we know each other really well and we can just fall into trip mode.  That being said, I fished last summer with four other guys, and I only knew one of them before the trip.  It was great, but they are a unique group of guys.

Doug, the guy on the left is the cook.

    Thanks guys,

Do you know if any of these areas have kayak rentals available, if I don’t want to haul a boat?

New I’d be looking at the ECC Fury if it runs well as it hasn’t seen water yet.  Also the Bohemian 17 once they have a finished product.

    Craig,

Do you know who is making that Bohemian 17?

Michael’s book is good. I heard it’s back in print, but I’m not sure.
I had to spend a lot of money for a copy.
    Randy

Unfortunately, it is out of print again.

It seems that each year there are rumors of T&T’s demise and I am not quite sure why.

    Great interview Zach.

Chris seems like a really bright guy and a very strong leader for TU, which pleases me as a long time member.

    Jay –

The truth is that most bamboo has a really dead action.  The thing that gets bamboo guys all jazzed up is the really excellent rod, made with extreme craftsmanship and years of experience.  Bernard isn’t the only person who’s ever made rods of that caliber but I would argue he is one of the last ones left doing so in the United States, what with Tom Morgan’s medical condition.  Certainly for a national company.

    Zach

While I am not the end source on this subject, I can tell you, the above statement is just not true.

Zach….If/when you decide to purchase another pad….I bought a Big Agnes pad last year and have been really pleased with the comfort and durability of their product. It is extremely lightweight and compact as well. I was a lifelong Therma-rest customer until I fell in love with Big Agnes  ;D

    Wait…that doesn’t sound quite right.

    X2 on the Big Agnes.
