I like the first shot quite a bit .. Its super sharp and the nymph seems to have some personality! Inspires me to get out and shoot a few more bugs!
Sounds like a great trip! I look forward to my Montana trips every year! If your going through the SLC area on your drive, let me know. I can recommend a couple of nice rivers, in northern Utah and Wyoming, to hit on your way up to Montana. Feel free to drop me an email, if your interested.
I noticed these reels a couple of weeks ago also .. I’m actually looking for a solid reel that will fit the bill for steelhead, bone, and muskie. You guys feel like this might be a good choice?

another vote for studded Aquastealths. I just got my first pair this last summer … They are a fantastic boot and have been great for winter fishing. I also, very much like the fact that they don’t transmit stream borne invasives as easily.
I decided to go after some tiger muskie on a fly rod this year … I wanted a general heavy rod i could use for steelhead, bonefish, and muskie … To me, the best general weight of rod sounded like a 9wt. I think the guys here tend to fish for muskie with a 10wt. I’m still trying to figure out which reel will best cover all my bases.

I agree .. I have not watched a ton of these type of videos, but the ones I have watched were pretty dry. I’d love to see more on the habitat .. hear some stories and history about the area/rivers, etc. You wouldn’t think it would cost THAT much more.. Any one here involved in any of these types of video productions?

You got to love the Beaverhead and the Big Hole. The ranch I guide for is only an hour or so from both of these rivers. I can’t guide on the Big Hole but do a few trips a year on the Beaverhead. Good stuff!
Yes, I’m in Utah .. The fishing is pretty good. We don’t have the big rivers like Montana or the consistent big fish like on the Beaverhead, but it keeps me going until I can make it up your way! If my job allowed, I’d be your neighbor! I love fishing in Montana, it is everything that you’d imagine it would be. I try to make it up to Montana 3 – 5 times a year … All the rivers in that area are fantastic! I love the Beaverhead and Big Hole, but I think my favorite is the Ruby. I HOPE to do a little hiking/exploring to see how far up that Red Rock I can get this year! Last time I was up Brad (guide) was talking up a spruce moth hatch on the Beaverhead… I scheduled a float to try and hit it. Have you fished it?
Wow nice pictures! Are these pictures shot using a SLR or a regular camera?
Thanks! All but the underwater shot were taken with a Canon Digital Rebel. I used my 100mm lens quite a bit this year and just got a 17mm – 55mm which i used for the last shot. The under water shot was taken with a pentax optio.
The shot of the Provo, was that near or on the way to Sundance? I was there a couple of years ago. Awesome how beautiful that area is!
It is close to Sundance … I agree, fantastic scenery… Very beautiful. If your ever up this way again feel free to drop me an email and we can hit the river for a day.
Loomis GLX 9′ – 4wt … Great rod!
I picked up a 9′ 3wt XP when they went on sale a couple of months ago, I expected it to have a ‘lighter’ feel … I think I’ll need to throw some dries with it this summer to make up my mind.
The TXL does look like it could be some fun! I have been looking at 0 or 00 weight in this rod .. primarily for small streams. Have not been able to throw one yet, but there are not a ton of choices when you get down to 1 and 0.
