MemberThe Foo Fighters were Bad Arse last Saturday.
Did anyone catch it? I liked the version of ‘Hero’ and better yet ‘Everlong’. Great show I’ll be watching again!

MemberDanny,
KOL, BRMC, are some of my favs as well. I will check out the others you mentioned. I am always looking for new music and like your style.
I had no idea the Lips put on such a crowd participatory event but now I want to see them live. That’s got to be a riot.
Do you like the new KOL. I think it’s awsome. Rock On Danny!

MemberI am so glad you brought this up Danny.
I have been using my DVR to record it for years now and caught some very special moments and live performances. This coming saturday the FOO Fighters have the whole hour and it’s new. I’ve had some great moments seeing live performances that to me prove a band or solo artits ability. So many can only pull off a performance in the studio and not live.
Some great performances I have on my DVR include My Mornimg Jacket tearing it up a year ago and recently getting the full hour this yaer and showing just how great a band they are. Also Theivery Corperation, old SRV, Trey Anastasio, The Flaming Lips, Cat Power, Widespread, Lyle Lovett with Guy clark, John Hait, and Joe Ely all sitting on stools with thier guitars and Not having a set list just improvising.

MemberMark and Ryan,
I can thank a fly shop (The Woodsmen) and it’s employees and owners for getting me interested and getting me my first set up and a few more in the following years.
The first inquiry and conversation I had with one of the knowledgable employees was so interesting and the stories he told made me want to jump right in.
The shop was more than accomidating to new comers as well as seasoned flyfishers.
They were very helpful and did not try to get me to buy high end to start with and took me out in the parking lot and showed me the basics of casting also let me try any rod, reel or wader out. And still will. They also offered free begining tying classes and got me started there as well and incouraged you to come in with your tying gear anytime and sit down and tie.My point is there are right ways to present yourself as a fly shop and wrong ways. I understand were you are coming from Ryan and have been in shops were if you don’t look like your going to make a big purchase or better yet even get asked if you can be helped (a personal pet peeve of mine) Then you are straght up ignored and looked at like your not worth there time. Not all shops are as accomidating and better get on board with customer service or they risk losing everyting. Especcially when you consider the internet.
This goes for all service industries. Which I have worked in for the last 20 odd years and know a little about. You can’t hold a reel in your hand on the internet and go outside and cast different rods either so the Fly Shop has a very special place that would be hard to replace if not impossible. The good shops will always have buisness as long as they don’t forget the guy who is just poking around and may just be curious. If treated right he’ll be back.

MemberZach,
I still use my first rod a 6 wt. St.Croix pro graphite and like it for creeks etc and a back up rod. I really, really like my 4 wt. Sage DS2 and use it all the time for trout fishing and it serves me very well. I have never had a problem with it nor do I expect to. It has helped me land some large browns. So no reason to pay $700-800 for a new Zaxis till such time IMO.
Do you still have yours?
chad copsy
MemberThose are great recommendations.
Joel,
I just had to laugh after reading your post and not at you but what you said about just tying on a fly and your ready to go. It is a simple statement and true to a degree.chad copsy
MemberGreat pics guys! I can see why you want to be out in it. The peacefulness alone is captivating.
We don’t get much snow down here like Zach said but I did manage to fish 2 of the coldest days we have had in awhile with my sons right before X-mas. It never got above freezing and the second day it was all of 18 F and as you all know there was a lot of dipping rods to keep the line moving. Had a blast and the fishing was not bad either. Hope to post some more soon.

MemberGreat story and pics Clark. That is one hell of an advertisement for that 10wt. rod whoever made it. It’s bent like a whores back at a bachelor party.

MemberWes,
That is a very nice brown indeed. Is that the bridge at Cotter behind you on the white here in Arkansas?
chad copsy
MemberWTF! Who is this targeted at? What is the point? So many questions.
chad copsy
MemberWow Mike! That fish in photo #4 is as big as a salmon. Nice fish, all of em.

MemberI believe long leaders, presentation and light tippets work good sometimes, as do changing flies, but watching the fish and finding and targeting feeding fish also seems to help alot. If the fish are refusing all offerings and don’t even move at a fly and aren’t acctivley feeding I will try to move to other fish that are. And in most cases were fish are moving to food they will take a fly on heavier and shorter leaders which facilitates landing big browns after hooking up. I have tried this out with some good success and continue to learn. just another wiew.

MemberYour right Phil! It’s a damn nice fish no matter what. I have the Oly 720 sw and love it. I don’t worry about getting the camera wet anymore. It’s a sweet little camera.

MemberPhil,
That’s bad ass.
In the last pic it looks like you got a bleeder? Is that the same fish in the video? If so he looks healthy and good to go. It looks to be 25 or so and in the 7-8 pound range. just guessing. What camera are you using?
Rock on,
