MemberGot out for a few hours today on a local river. The catching was slow, but it was above freezing, so it was great to be able to fish without dealing with ice in the guides.

MemberGreat pics guys! I can see why you want to be out in it. The peacefulness alone is captivating.
We don’t get much snow down here like Zach said but I did manage to fish 2 of the coldest days we have had in awhile with my sons right before X-mas. It never got above freezing and the second day it was all of 18 F and as you all know there was a lot of dipping rods to keep the line moving. Had a blast and the fishing was not bad either. Hope to post some more soon.

MemberNice Brownie Chad!
Midcurrent posted one of the best winter fishing videos of all time (IMO) … http://www.midcurrent.com/video/clips/beattie_winter.aspx
Now if I could only afford that 5D mkII so that I could start shooting HD video … LOL 😀

Chad SimcoxMemberAs soon as I get my 8wt reel in, I hope to start having some winter fishing pics from the beaches of L.A. Hopefully there will be some photos of fish and sharks too!
I couldn’t convince my one fly fishing buddy here to go up into the mtns when there is snow on the ground. He doesn’t know what he’s missing out on!http://society6.com/grainfarmer Fly Fishing and Landscape open edition Photography prints.

MemberGreat shots guys. I have no idea how you do that.
I just took a trip through Crested Butte, Vail, and Taos. Hit the slopes 4 days and fished 4 hungover half-days.

Eagle River

Eagle River Brown

Rest Stop

Arkansas River

Still learning how to use a new lens

Red River, NM
All in all, a fun trip that I’m sure took a few years off my life.

MemberDaryl and Corey – thanks guys. #5 was a complete accident.
Lee – we didn’t get into any on the Arkansas. Only fished for about an hour before the wind, cold, and house-sized icebergs picked up. With all the ice on the banks and no net, I’m not sure what I would have done if I hooked up. Probably jumped in.
John – I had the most fun on the Eagle near Avon. It was the closest to Vail, had the slowest water for easier drifts, and even had a few browns rising in the late afternoons. I also listened to the entire Fleet Foxes album out there, which seemed to make sense. Very cool river.
