Ian,
Here are a few of the rabbit strip Clousers in different colors. I tie most in flesh/tan/olive/white combinations. The third is tied in sculpin colors and I substituted some clipped red flashabou (gills) for krystal flash. The fourth has been a good bass combination.

Have you had problems with it fouling? I tie a few strands of matching bucktail under the streamer hair to help it hold its shape a little better. Recently, though, I’ve been tying all of my Clousers with bunny strips. I can’t layer in Krystal Flash like with the craft fur/hair patterns, but three to four strands tied along the sides seems to give them enough flash and pass as a lateral line.
I almost forgot, nice looking flies, Ian. Will you be primarily targeting roosters from the beach?

Welcome, Pat. You have some nice work–I especially liked the downhill silhouette. Much of my family has lived in Ketchikan for the better part of two decades. I’ve done quite a bit of fishing on the island and on POW. My brothers and I are wanting to put together a trip to Baranoff in the next couple of years.

Seychelles! More of a dream destination as I understand it is terribly expensive to get to.
On a more practical note–what about striper fishing in ME. The Maine coast is a beautiful vacation destination and the fishing can be pretty spectacular.

Did you ever make contact with any ‘boo guys from your area? Given the way you’ve described your clientele you should look at carrying Thomas & Thomas rods and Abel reels. Together they offer unsurpassed snob appeal. 😉

I believe you could as long as it was a dt 3 on a 4wt rod, but going down too far creates casting problems, namely line bellies between the guides. There wouldn’t be any advantage that I can think of either (unless it were to maybe drop midges and dry flies a little more softly in front of terribly picky fish), but in that case, you would be better served by improving your casting.

Just out of curiosity, had you trimmed the tag flush with the knot, or did you leave a little overhang for just such a hard set?

Consult the instruction manual or look at the end of the camera’s lens barrel. If it is threaded the manufacturer (and an after market co.) probably makes filters for it.
I have a Canon P&S with a zoom lens and it will accept some filters.

Ha! I’ve got a couple of those fans now complete with LED lights. Used to be when I was a kid my friends and I would be content to sleep on a doubled up blanket, cook a hot dog on a stick, and for entertainment look at girly magazines one of my buddies would sneak from his dad. To get my wife and daughters into the woods for a weekend I now have to carry those fans, a portable DVD player, an entire library of kid movies and books, bikes, an inflatable mattress, a camp chef stove, a pinic table shelter, organic skim milk, flavored coffee, a half dozen lanterns, and an old man named Chauncy.
