Also while I’m asking questions I’m thinking about under weighting my White River SC IV 8′,6″ with a 4 or maybe 3wt double taper line. What do you think? do you recommend under weighting ?

I believe you could as long as it was a dt 3 on a 4wt rod, but going down too far creates casting problems, namely line bellies between the guides. There wouldn’t be any advantage that I can think of either (unless it were to maybe drop midges and dry flies a little more softly in front of terribly picky fish), but in that case, you would be better served by improving your casting.

As overlining sort of “slows down” a rod, underlining sort of “speeds it up.”

Thanks for the advice I plan to buy a Cortland® 10 Meter Double Taper Line in 4wt to keep on a small reel for use with dry flies.

    Thanks; Swampfox
