Driftboat fly-fishing guide. I’m one of the poor folks rowing the boat between two rich guys who frequently ask, “I wonder what the poor folks are doing?”
I’m also an outdoors newspaper columnist.
Abe,
1) Make the tail longer–one and a half times the shank length. Try some with rubber legs, beadheads, coneheads, heavily weighted or not, dubbed body, black, purple, brown, sparkle body, variegated chenille, size 6, size 4, size 12, oversized hackle, etc., etc. Change it up and try a lot of different combos. Longer tail and oversized hackle would be my first suggestion.

2) Fish it on a sink tip line. ;D
3) Swing it, jig it, or deaddrift it. Any combination thereof.

What kind of paint/finish did you use to make that shiny black one?

Something to be said for the drive up from Beaver’s Bend on Hwy 259 also, Bluegill. Beautiful area whether you are in the valley or on the ridges.

I’d rather see it stuck in the wood :-). Just my two cents.
What’s the method for attaching the sili legs?
Mark, I use a small drill bit in a dremel tool (3/32 I think). You might have to buy a smaller collet to hold the tiny drill bit. Drill through and use the eye of a needle or threader tool to pull the rubber legs through.

The PBGVs are known for their happy-go-lucky outlook. They were bred to hunt rabbits and drive small game even some fowl in France in tough terrain.
Our Yorky was a standard size. They are getting harder to find as it’s a popular breed and has been bred down in size. He was a sturdy little dog and wonderful personality. Like most terriers however they tend to be a notch or two high on the dog-in-charge scale.
