I joined a friend yesterday morning for the morning hunt of opening day of dove season here in Central Texas.  I was strictly shooting with the Canon 10D, but I wished I had had my Remington 870!!  This was my first attempt at getting bird hunting pictures, and I have to say it is not easy :P.  I’m sure John B. can give me some good advice ;D

Below is a selection from what I came home with.  I tried to select some images to post here, kind of like a photo essay.  Your thoughts are welcome.  More images can be viewed at my website:  http://creationslight.zenfolio.com/p470452985/

    Nice John.

As for advice :), lol still trying to figure out how to cover it myself. Doing field trials in two weeks, and other than some pre concieved “images”, I suspect a fair bit will be by the seat of my pants.

For shooting birds the best advice I can give you is practise alot on seagulls. Bigger birds tend to be slower and easier to start with nor are they as erratic. Birds that zig, zag and jig alot will just lead to alot of deletions.

    Nice shots, watch those horizons…

Good point Labrati,  …I’ll  try and tweak the ones where the horizon is not level, and repost.
