MemberAussie hats have arrived
andrew connell
MemberIt usually takes 21-28 days for stuff to arrive from the US. ย I’ll not start panicking until my next trip up the coast to Exmouth late September.
Adam
That’s quicker than a delivery from Melbourne to Perth ;D

MemberZach if you can give us an idea of price to Australia we will pay it straight away (I think there was at least 4 or 5 in the same delivery).

MemberAaron, usually the snap only happens on the back cast due to the unseen unfurling of the loop and the casters poor timing of the forward cast commencing. The reason most people don’t snap/crack at the start of the back cast is because they can see when to start the back cast ๐ I’m sure you understand starting to move the rod leg of the loop forward before the fly leg has unfurled will increase line speed (just like a haul).
You can still get a dull sound with the yarn on (get an experienced caster to really throw a grossly overpowered curve cast) but basicly I think the yarn diffuses the energy ๐ฎ
Someone mentioned that the crack is a good casting aid to improve your cast timing, looking is even better.

MemberIts also a good excuse for an IA get-together ;D
;D Hmm, maybe a salmon trip ๐

Member6 panel camo please Zach ๐
You could save on postage to Australia and send mine with Brian and Boydo’s, probably even Beechys ๐
andrew connell
MemberI’d like another Zach, my waxed version doesn’t get that much used due to the heat build up under it down here ย :-[
Edit: 6 panel please ๐

MemberCongratulations Zach!!
Congratulations…
On that note, we should start a where in the world thread…
Where in the world has the IA caps and t-shirts been seen and photographed.
Great idea, my tee shirt is now about 3 sizes to big… or I’m half the man I used to be ๐
You have plenty of fans in Oz Zach, keep up the good work ๐

MemberThere we go! ย Not too difficult this time. ย I made the site slightly narrower to assist with reading on mobile devices (narrower means if you “pinch” in to read a post, it’ll the text will be bigger when you zoom in, assuming you can see both margins.)
If the layout is breaking in any way now, be sure to refresh your browser, and if it persists, let me know please.

Zach, tapatalk is the best thing for using forums on mobile devices

MemberIt would have been nice to have seen you there Steve, even Rob came over from Tassie for a day ๐

MemberIm with zach on this one. ย I carry on ALL reels, rods and flies.
Just a warning, none of those are allowed on Australian domestic flights as carryon. We have to check in all gear (rods, reels and flies)

MemberCheers Zach, I was struggling to find a copy over here ๐
andrew connell
MemberDead jealous, they are sweet looking boats, I’ve only been able to row two here down under and would love to be able to try more to form a better opinion on which one suits me. I’ll need to source a copy of AA :-[

MemberZach’s view is quite clear and there is no need to try to convince the other.
I’m interested in views from other members. One thing I find extremely difficult out here in Europe is the possibility to try out different tapers, makers’ rods, etc. Very few bamboo fans out here and meeting means traveling a long way.
PS.
Your bamboo article in American Angler was quite good. In fact it was one of the recent articles on bamboo which helped me make sense of the subject.Sound to me like you need to get to a Rod Makers gathering ๐
4th European Rodmakers Gathering 2011
Continuing the great tradition of the European Gatherings which began in 2008
by IBRA (Italian Bamboo Rodmakers Association), it is with great pleasure that
we announce that the 4th European Rodmakers Gathering will take place in
Sansepolcro, Tuscany (Italy) ย on ย May 6 – 7 and 8, ย 2011.We will inform you about the details as soon as the programme is defined with
also the ย help of the friends who organized the previous European Gatherings. As it was in previous editions, we sincerely hope that many European and non-
European rodmakers ย will participate.Best Regards
Gabriele Gori
CEO of the Italian Bamboo Rodmakers Asso

MemberZach, what do you feel is better in the $2500.00 range? Finish or Feel? or both maybe?
I love Bamboo and I love Carbon, although I think for me its 5 and under for Cane, I don’t care much for glassy finishes just nice actions ๐
