MemberI’m not much of a gear-head, so these will be boring… But I’ve got to second breathable waders- nothing has more improved my comfort on the water.
I’ll also second sit-on-top kayaks and add another for the Clouser minnow (I bet I have 50+ species on that pattern).
Of course I never leave home without some good polarized glasses (preferably polarchromatic Action Optics) and (unless in the salt, boat, or place they are outlawed) felts sole boots.

MemberGore-tex and Patagonia capilene base layers. Both of these have allowed me to stay more comfortable outdoors, year-round, in absolutely all types of weather. Without these, I would fish less and/or be more miserable while doing so in crappy conditions.

MemberSimms breathable waders- Much more comfortable than neo’s or rubber waders. Zipper in the G4’s make things so much easier 🙂

Curtis BiasMemberHow about a stick and some string. 😉
I have to agree with the folks talking about breathable waders.
Well, that and toilet paper. The stuff is so much better than leaves.

Scott K.MemberFor me, without a doubt, it is a Folstaf wading staff. Â Very rugged, very reliable and it will get you out of places you shouldn’t have been in in the first place. Â I tried other wading staffs, but nothing came close. Â Have had the Folstaf for 12 or 13 years and its still going strong.
Only other answer is my windstopper fingerless gloves. Â Totally key when you’re fishing and its chilly.

Curtis BiasMemberAaron makes a great point about the impact of the personal computer on the fly fishing community. Information is a powerful tool. We share fly tying information, casting tips, fishing techniques, and swap stories on internet forums. What an amazing resource.
