The 682B Manfrotto monopod and 234RC arrived. Is it better to leave the quick release plate on the camera body to quickly attach/detach from the monopod?
Long weekend to play with new used lens and monopod before the trip West.

I own 2 682B Manfrotto monopods (the 681B is the same but w/o the additional 3 legs). I have used them with Nikon D3 and D3x bodies, the 200 f2 lens, the 70-200 f2.8 lens, the 300 f2.8 lens. One has a Acratech Maxi ballhead the other a Kirk BH1 ballhead since I use ACRA plates on all my lens feet and the D3x. I loved the first one so much I grabbed a second since the 200 f2 is married to one for a quick gun and run set up.Thanks. I didn’t know there was a monopod with expandable legs. I just ordered the Manfrotto 682B from Adorama. No time for me to do any serious looking and comparisons and have it on time with standard shipping.
This one is an industry-only trade show, I’m afraid, Curtis, but if you work for a fly shop you can usually get a pass.

Flying into Atlanta Monday. From the airport going to Duluth, am I better going Hwy 285 or through downtown on Hwy 85?
If you land before say, 330-4pm, I would go 85. Saves several miles. Atlanta traffic is typically mild on Mondays, especially in the summer. I work off of Sugarloaf Pkwy in Duluth and make most of that drive daily.

The main thing I think the fiberglass replicas get wrong is the gills; they are not hollow on many of the mounts I’ve seen like on a real fish.

West on I-20 from Atlanta to Birmingham. In Birmingham, take I-65 north for just about two miles, then get off at the Daniel Payne Dr. exit and go west on 41st St. Turn right on Coalburg Rd., and follow that a mile until you get to future I-22. That will shoot you straight to Memphis. This route knocks about 40 minutes off the trip, but definitely look at it on Google Maps so you’re clear on what’s going on.
When you reach Memphis, you’ll come in on Hwy. 78 (which I-22 runs into). Turn left on E. Shelby Dr. and take it over to I-55. Stay on I-55 and take it over the river, where it momentarily merges with I-40, then get back off on I-55 and take it to the Hwy. 63 exit to Jonesboro. You’re going to go through Jonesboro on Hwy. 63, which is interstate-grade, then in Walnut Ridge that turns into Hwy. 412. Hwy. 412 will lead you to Hardy.
In Hardy, Arkansas (which has a trout stream on the Spring River), you’ll turn south on Hwy. 62, then after you pass Highland you’ll turn right back on Hwy. 412, which will take you all the way into Mountain Home.

From Mt. Home you’re going to continue west on Hwy. 412 to Cotter, AR. Cotter is your real destination. Right now you have a bunch of options for a float, but generally speaking you can put in at the Dam and float all the way back to Cotter.
