So does anyone spey cast on the east coast for saltwater, stripers or carp?

I lived in CT until a year ago, and yes, you see it now and then, especially when the stripers come up the rivers.

You can do it for carp.

Most of the guys that I know from out East are using two-handers for overhead casting like Andrew said.

Yes, I was actually swinging a spey for stripers today.

Oops. My post should have read “all my carp fishing” not “all might…”

What I meant was that all of the carp fishing I’ve done has been of a type where I don’t think a two-hander would be a particularly good tool.

The stripers in Long Island Sound, where I fished, would follow herring up rivers, so much of the fishing was very repetitive “across and swing down…repeat until exhausted”, where a two-hander with true spey casts would have a lot of good applications.

It’s very hard to set up an anchor in the surf.

Check out the SA Mastery Skagit Extreme line; it’s a good one to get started with because you can chunk out an 80′ roll cast and at least fish while you learn.
