The Itinerant AnglerRight before Christmas I had the great pleasure of coming home to find that a pipe had frozen and my house had the equivalent of a swimming pool’s worth of water flowing through my middle floor and out my garage basement.

The Itinerant AnglerTim – Ha! You could certainly learn how to target phantom bridge fish with the best of them.
Pablo, you are as free to leave as you were to come. Enjoy your winter.

The Itinerant AnglerHey Mike –
I caught that when he said it and I didn’t understand the term.

The Itinerant AnglerIn the interests of keeping things on track, I am going to define national tax schemes as a subset of ‘politics’ and request that we avoid the topic (which was how the economy is affecting fly fishing).

The Itinerant AnglerSorry, Neal.

The Itinerant AnglerWelcome, Jim.

The Itinerant AnglerHey Dave –
For trout-sized tackle, I usually use Amnesia monofilament nail-knotted to the end of my line, with a perfection loop tied in it a couple inches from the nail knot so I can connect my leaders with loop to loop connectors.
Zach Matthews
The Itinerant AnglerThat’s a good question, Dave.

The Itinerant AnglerI have a sense that the ancestors of the DeWitt family may have been responsible for killing off the Pleistocene megafauna.

No, the key to the Great Divider is that it needs to stay upright.

The Itinerant AnglerThe Stormfront Pack is pretty cool; I’m not sure if it was mentioned above but the straps come off, making it effectively a dry bag.

The Itinerant AnglerYeah you really missed your opportunity there, Cthulhu.

The Itinerant AnglerNo man is ever old enough to smoke a pipe, yet I have one and I will certainly indulge on a cold day on the water.

The Itinerant AnglerHey Joel –
I appreciate your understanding. You know I value your opinion and I know you are not one to fly off the handle. The deal with this site is, I don’t censor people’s opinions, but I do ask them to think the opinions through. When people have come out and been overly critical about a company in the past, rather than delete their post, I have simply tried to point out why I think their criticism is unfair. Take Lando, for instance (not picking on you Lando–just as an example): his waders leak. Well, everyone’s waders leak eventually. Sometimes it’s due to a manufacturing failure and sometimes it’s due to wear and tear. Generally speaking, cheaper waders are going to leak faster – you don’t push a Ford Taurus to 130mph and then expect it to perform like a Porsche. But, in the case of both Cloudveil and Orvis, I am sure that if Lando sent the waders back and the company looked at them and realized they were designed or manufactured to fail, I feel confident they would man up and make it right.
I don’t ask people to treat my advertisers with kid gloves; I do ask people to treat everyone and every company with a reasonable degree of respect, whether they are my advertiser or not. Not an excessive amount of respect, just some.
