Yellow bass or yellow perch? I’ve caught yellow perch in Tennessee at the Melton Hill Steam Plant – evidently one of them was quite a big one, as it was over a foot long. They are supposed to be good to eat, though generally speaking I wouldn’t eat anything out of an east Tennessee stream.

Hey Phil –
If you’re aware enough to be asking the client up front, it’s no problem. Chances are I would say yes myself – I like dogs. But I’ve been in a situation where a dog was a distraction when I was supposed to be working as well as fishing, and it’s somewhat annoying. If your local shop has banned dogs, it’s possible they had a complaint that you didn’t know about – maybe not even about *your* dog, you know? I am not trying to be critical, I am just expressing this to speak up for people who are maybe too polite to ask a guide not to bring a dog. If you are checking up front though, then I think you’re good.

I agree with the complaints about people setting up shop to fish (invariably from lawn chairs) at the bottom of boat ramps.

You have to wonder if there’s any kind of biological herbicide or fungicide they could distribute to anglers to spritz on their catch.

I know as far as species decline goes in the Southeastern reservoirs, there are many factors in play.
