MemberBlue ribbon nets (made in USA). Got it from Jim at Fly South.
My Bass Pro Junk I mean shops rubber basket boat net broke. I am getting to where I am scared to buy anything not US made anymore. It’s like throwing money away.

MemberThanks Zach, I don’t know what that is but I am guessing it is a Dace of some sort. It is not listed in my field guide anywhere.
Those things will wear out a dry so I switched to a nymph to get them to stop hitting.
Like my new net?
Man, taking pics alone with that Camera and WP case is a biiiatch.

MemberI am with Zach, I only wear ball caps. I wouldn’t mind getting a full-brimmed hat but 1) It would look horribly stupid on me and 2) I don’t want to look like all the other guys that are trying to be like the guys on that movie. I’m not saying that everyone with a full-brimmed hat is trying to be like them, but I know if I wore one that’s what people would think. Besides, I can’t find a Michigan or Red Sox felt hat.
Ever notice the crows feet on the guys who are making fun of the wide brimmed hat wearers? ;D
I hear ya though. I feel the same way but I think I’m ready to take that leap.

MemberI use Hodgeman guidelite waders and have had them for four years now with 0 repairs. I don’t abuse them as I use a boat to get to most of the places I wade fish.
You don’t hear much about Hodgeman but IMO they are great waders for $200.Mike Anderson
MemberGot it.

MemberI have the WJ retrac basket and I like it better every time I use it. I has no fingers, but if your careful putting the line in it, it will come out ok. Also you either have to cast all the line you have out every so often or cut the fly off and let your line untwist in the current.
I like the Bean basket but the bulk + my clumsy would = disaster.
Which reminds me, BD, please don’t use nails as Zach suggested, for fingers in your homemade basket. I would hate to have to pull them out you. Even worse I would hate to watch you bleed to death if the fish were biting.

MemberI like this one from Tilley. This is a heck of a site if your looking for a fishing hat.

I do like your idea of a Filson for the colder months.
Zach your quiet. Do you still wear those ear and face cooking ball caps?
I think this topic would make a great article.
Mike Anderson
MemberYou could also go with a Hemp hat from Tilley. They are even green for when fishing small tight streams.
Can you smoke them if you get bored with fishing?
Mike Anderson
MemberHey, if it puts boobs on my chest I can sell all my gear cause I might never leave the house again.
Mike Anderson
MemberHey splitshot, that is a pretty cool looking hat , and it is Gore-Tex
I think it makes me look kinda hot too.

What do you guys think?
I think I am putting this one near the top of the list!
Mike Anderson
MemberBD, if we wore the same hat we really would be “The Team”
Mike Anderson
MemberActually, I like the hat you suggested Cameron. I am going to look at Splitshots suggestion as well. Cabelas had a few nice one too. I’ll post a pic of the one I decide on.

MemberI don’t have any DVD’s but I do have some VCR tying video’s you could have. If you’re interested post a mailing address and I’ll put then in the mail.

MemberWelcome Backwoods. There are some good folks/fishermen on this board. Youve come to the right place.
What do you do in the Air Force BTW?
Mike Anderson
MemberStop it, you’re killin me. LMAO
Mike Anderson
MemberYeaaa hooooo! Good job Zach!!!
If there is a lake around with Stripe in it find the main trib into the lake and follow it until you’re in ankle deep water. Fish downstream until you hit them. They usually like a gravel area. You fishing this weekend?
Mike Anderson
MemberThanks Cameron, the eyes have it, or at least that’s what they say… They can be too big and cause the fly to spin if you don’t build it with enough material to stabilize it.
Trolling flies for Striper is a blast and an great way to catch them. one thing you learn quickly Striper fishing is that Striper prefer the prey to be moving. I guess they’re used to seeing everything running away from them.

MemberSorry buddy, I was just making a point that you’re not a materialistic money grubber like James was suggesting. I actually admire you for that.
