Well here I am, the “New Guy” and i mean it an all aspects of the phrase. Not only am i new this fine site, but also to flyfishing. I have been playing around a little with some borrowed gear and would like to think that i’m ready to jump in with both feet. I’m from the Oregon coast originaly but live in Tucson, AZ now.

Welcome…I am not all that familiar with AZ…where is your “home” waters for trout?

    I second the welcome.

    Hey, Back_Woods –

I have to second Bd’s comments.  Also, it is a well known fact among non-Arizonans that there are no ‘Woods’ to be ‘Back’ in within that arid state.  Seriously, how do you people stay alive out there with all the gila monsters?

    Hahahah.

In all seriousness, welcome.  I recently did a piece on the Black Mountains and Apache trout.  You are very fortunate to have a fishable population of such a unique fish, something many Appalachian blue-liners would kill to fish for.  I think you will really enjoy flyfishing in such a unique area and I hope you’ll fire away with questions here.

Well i’ve only been in AZ for 3ish years, and your right, there really are no “woods”. But like i said i’m from the Oregon coast, and fished for Salmon, Steelhead, Sturgeon, and Small Mouth on the Umpqua, and fished the smaller streams and beaver ponds for Cutts, and ‘Bows. My Weapon of choice was a St. Croix ultra light spinning rod, and 2lb line, for the trout anyways. Haven’t really done much in AZ, I’m in the AirForce and can never seem to get away long enough…. anyways, thanks for the welcome!

Welcome Backwoods. There are some good folks/fishermen on this board. Youve come to the right place.

What do you do in the Air Force BTW?
