We get a strong striper run that should be starting in a couple of weeks in the Congaree and Saluda Rivers.
I’ve caught a couple of six to eight pound stripers on clousers which puts a nice bend in the eight weight. The Congaree and Saluda Rivers are pretty big water and there are stripers pushing fifty pounds that run each spring and summer. I’m looking forward to learning that aspect of the fishery more this summer.
And then you can also chase them on the big water of Lake Murray. We’ve caught them trolling flies at night which is quite a thrill. I’ve heard grand stories of people coming across them schooling and crashing bait…but I’ve yet to time it right to find them doing that.
Mike A…I really like the big eyes on several of your patterns…sharp looking flies…
