I am starting to think that this thread was less about finding MikeA the perfect fly fishing headgear and more about taking a few stabs at BD’s choice of hats…

Actually, I like the hat you suggested Cameron. I am going to look at Splitshots suggestion as well. Cabelas had a few nice one too. I’ll post a pic of the one I decide on.

    Don’t worry, Cameron.

BD, if we wore the same hat we really would be “The Team”

Hey splitshot, that is a pretty cool looking hat , and it is Gore-Tex

I think it makes me look kinda hot too.

    What do you guys think?

I think I am putting this one near the top of the list!

    #11559

Which one?  Do you need any suggestions.  I really like the brim on that one.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t remember you having a face like that.

    Hey MIKE!!!!!

Man, that surgery went very well. Congrats!!! If I hadn’t known you “before” I’d probably book a trip with you myself.

I purchased this hat from Sportsman’s Guide and have been very pleased with it.

    Mike,

Doh! I forgot to mention it will change your hair color and put boobs on your chest.

    #11563

Hey, if it puts boobs on my chest I can sell all my gear cause I might never leave the house again.

You could also go with a Hemp hat from Tilley.

You could also go with a Hemp hat from Tilley.  They are even green for when fishing small tight streams.

Can you smoke them if you get bored with fishing?

Here’s another idea…the Outdoor Research hat for the warm summer months…and the Filson Packer hat for the cool wet months.

I  like this one from Tilley. This is a heck of a site if your looking for a fishing hat.

I do like your idea of a Filson for the colder months.

Zach your quiet. Do you still wear those ear and face cooking ball caps?

I think this topic would make a great article.

I do wear ball caps – my hatband is only about a 7 1/4″ and since my head is shaved it looks even smaller.

I am with Zach, I only wear ball caps.

I am with Zach, I only wear ball caps.  I wouldn’t mind getting a full-brimmed hat but 1) It would look horribly stupid on me and 2) I don’t want to look like all the other guys that are trying to be like the guys on that movie.  I’m not saying that everyone with a full-brimmed hat is trying to be like them, but I know if I wore one that’s what people would think.  Besides, I can’t find a Michigan or Red Sox felt hat.

Ever notice the crows feet on the guys who are making fun of the wide brimmed hat wearers? ;D

I hear ya though. I feel the same way but I think I’m ready to take that leap.

Well, I still wear a ball cap at times, especially if it’s not a “bluebird” day or a “full blown scorcher”.

I have to go with Mike A on the boonie hat-  Meets all the requirements- ripstop fabric, vented, fairly wide brimmed, rot resistant, takes abuse, however it does nothing to improve your looks and may do the exact opposite. If you fish in mosquito infested areas, this hat holds permethrin like a champ
