    Faithful Street Inn has some real nice cabins; good location (in town), decent prices and very comfy.

    I wonder if that would still take fish on the Henry’s Fork.  They were mostly using no-hackles out there this year…

    I’ve got boxes and boxes of flies that don’t work on THAT river  🙂
    This one’s pretty effective on a lot of surrounding water though, so it’s got that going for it, which is nice.

    funny you mention French hikers, we encountered a couple of French hikers between the first and second meadows too!

    There were about 10 in the group we saw; maybe the bears thinned them out?   😉

    Thanks, Juan.   You could cut the 2mm off here:

    then tie in the thinner foam and continue; that’d be a nice looking fly.  I like that front foam as a pfd, so I leave it thicker; fish don’t seem to mind.   I’ll have to tie up some red ones.

    This one’s all copper but you can switch it to the colors you want.  Great for snook and apparently trout (hot streamer on the Mo).

    Matt,

    Those are some very nice flies you’ve tied.  Go with the Crease Fly suggestion – great for bass and saltwater.

    A few that have worked well for me:

    Foam-backed Convertible (favorite attractor pattern)

    Wally Wiese’s GFA

    Scott Sanchez Mega Beetle

    Rogue Stone (doubles as a hopper)

    Neversink Trude

    I’m sure you’ve done this, but if I was hiking 6 miles with a pack, I’d make sure it fit and felt comfortable with a typical load; and that would mean walking around the store for at least 1/2 hour (most good stores that sell hiking gear have weights you can stuff in a pack; you may have to improvise at a flyshop).
