We’d just come off a week of cold-snowy weather here in Bozeman with the dawn temperatures around 25° F.

    Last Wednesday morning in Bozeman

Sunday was going to warm up some but had a threat of wind and rain.  I headed off early to the lower Big Hole for one more shot at some big Browns.  Dawn found me at Pennington Bridge with temps in the high 30s.  By noon the temperature at hit 60° and the wind never did much and it didn’t rain.

    The timer works

Unfortunately the river was up about 8” from earlier in the month, so upstream travel was a bit more strenuous.

The river didn’t disappoint.  Big browns were everywhere and very aggressive.  Started playing around with the new Olympus TG-1 and it produced some interesting shots.  The underwater shots of the Brown at my feet came out pretty well for a point and shoot.

I thought this would be my last trip this season to the Big Hole, but upon returning home found out my trip to the East Coast was canceled because of Sandy, so I now have this upcoming week of warmer weather to continue the hunt for Brown Trout.

Very nice pics Mike. I have heard lots of good things about the TG-1. It will be my next camera. I especially like that magic mode option.
