MemberAwesome shots Neal. I really like the dockside shot of the water cistern.
Just a nit pick: Some of the shots showing the horizon could use some straightening. Made me a little seasick. 🙂
Thanks for the posting the trip info. I like to store that stuff away for future use!

MemberHey Dan,
You can’t attend a course to get an FFF certification if that is what you are referring to. By the FFF guidelines, someone who coaches you can’t test you for the cert. So you take the course to prep and test at a later date.
That being said, prep courses are really good and the Wulff school is one of the top schools. Sheilla Hassan teaches there and she is excellent. She and her husband are both Master CCIs. They also offer CCI prep courses in MA. Floyd is really good too. Not to mention Joan is an MCI as well.
If you are thinking about getting FFF certified, I would go to the FFF website and download the Performance Test and practice it. You can also find current instructors in your area that I am sure would help you prep (might end up being cheaper – but a school would be more fun!).
If you aren’t talking FFF then what I just said, doesn’t matter. I would add this just as food for thought: Every school’s teaching methods are a little different. It is important while in instructor mode to remember that. There are a lot of different ways to get at casting and it is really fun to learn from them all. No one school will give you all the answers, but it can be great fun collecting all those nuggets of wisdom out there.
Let me know if you have any specific questions. I know a couple of other gents on this board are certified too.

MemberI might tie up some of those as well, but I was referring to Kevin’s pic of the Red Ass Soft Hackle (RASH).
There are times when I think you could twist a little peacock hearl on a hook and catch some fish. The RASH is a great fly. There are quite a few versions that are all very similar. I also heard it called the Royal Soft Hackle or Royal Softy. I’ve seen it with a tail as well, much like the rest of the Royals. THEY WORK…. They work when a Prince will not and it is easier to tie.
Kevin,

MemberRich, you talking about the RAB’s??? I think so, I can’t wait to see the results…
14’s 16’s and 18’s, 16’s being the best size…

MemberGuys –
Plus, there’s the added value of a real magazine; the internet just has too many amateurs and cranks. When you have it on paper, the chances of there being a real editorial staff behind it, fact checkers, responsibility, etc., just goes up. It’s the difference between the reliability of AM talk radio versus a paper encyclopedia, to use old examples. You know the encyclopedia at least made an effort to be correct.Zach
This is largely perception and applies to print as much as the web.

MemberThe RAB is crazy. What size hook is that on. It iso buggy looking I want to eat it.
Said like a true soft hackle fisherman. 🙂

MemberGoogle Umpqua-Tiemco Dry Magic and you’ll find it.
When I Googled Trout Ice Dub Dispenser I got all kinds of hits. I know that Stoneriver Outfitters here in Bedford, NH carry it. 🙂
I couldn’t find them together though.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.
