My new Scott 703/3 arrived today. I posted my initial thoughts and some pictures at the fiberglass board http://fiberglassflyrodders.yuku.com/topic/5399. What a great rod, a total blast to cast.
Well, whatever the case may be, I am certainly excited about glass rods. I just purchased my first rod, a Scott 703/3 after talking with Cameron at length and getting some good advice at the fiberglass board.
Unfortunately, neatness is not her strong suit.
Ron, those are great pictures of the fly desks, and I love the story of the two of you tying and spending money, makes me laugh picturing the two of you at the fly shop, they must love those visits, ha.

A, nice Muskie ;D What weight Xi2 was used to bring him in and how long was the fight?
By the way and FYI, I agree totally with the fish size issues. I posted recently about my trip to North Georgia dream stream and the hogs we landed and how I was blown away when I actually measured them only to find that they were all about 20”. I owe it to Lando for helping me get straightened out about fish size. Now I carry a boga grip along which is invaluable for weighing big fish but still the length/girth issue is commonly overestimated. Also, the new Scott S4 (wipe saliva from mouth) has a 20” mark on the rod, it’s the little things.

Lee, please tell us what types of water you are planning on using the tube. It makes a big difference if it is lake fishing vs rivers. For example, I bought an Outcast early in my tubing and found immediately that it was unstable for the faster rivers I float. Fortunately, I was able to take it back and trade it in for a round-type tube (Buck’s Bag, IMHO the best tube out there) and this is perfect for river floating. However, for lakes, many people like the bigger, open access Outcast type systems because you sit up off the water and have more mobility.
You mentioned Alpine lakes, if that is your goal, I think that the Fat Cat with a higher sitting platform would be a good choice and would be preferred over the donut style tubes.
