Rather a disappointing first swap experience for me but it was a $15 learning experience. For those that received there’s the epoxy head sac fry pattern was mine.

I did get my flies but it was a disappointing swap with the amount of flies received back.

Wasnt involved in this, didnt know about it and therefore know nothing…but I am curious as to why the guy in Alaska was chosen to administer the swap.

I’m no expert on Fly Swap etiquette, but have hosted a few. Typically a swap is hosted by anyone that is willing to step up to the plate. Swaps tend to be theme oriented. The Swapmeister generally takes pride in the running of “his” swap, often throwing in a unique slant. Oftentimes the Swapmeister will throw in a small token of appreciation for participation. Conversely, participants are often encouraged to throw in an extra fly or two to compensate the host for his/her troubles. It’s a neat way to stock your flybox and develope a few friendships along the way.

Don’t know what happened in this case but the ones I have been involved in, have always ended on a positive note.

Due to health conditions, I was not able to join this one, and now I’m glad I didn’t.

Fly swaps are a lot of fun to participate in if they are well run, but they can be rocky both for the swappers and the “swapmeister.”

I stopped hosting (meistering) swaps on several other boards due to exactly what Bob describes.

I got burned on a refurbished bamboo rod swap a while back.

I’ve had a couple of things pointed out to me that should be addressed.

Hey Mark did you not get your flies? I remember mailing yours because they were the sweet epoxy patterns… I still have an extra seet somewhere so if you didn’t get flies PM me and I’ll send em out.

I fucked up, sorry I’m disorganized had my fly box stolen with my contribution to the swap, then had finals, then had to move and was homeless for a while.
