This dang thing was pretty but landed belly up more than it did belly down…. A Good friend and long time tyer suggested I cut the top foam down as much as I could, and make the wing sparce…. It worked. He expanded it to add that a heavy hook would help, and that the foam retains less water than the dear/elk hair or in this case the webweaver(i think that what the call it) therefore the heavy wing can flip the fly… I don’t think every pattern is this way but for the ones I was tying it helped..Jay,
I have seen the adds as well. Strange world, Sage has the circa that is more like the Winston WT (or BIIT), and Winston has the BIIMX which is alot like and XP… It’s kind of like getting a big mac at burger king…?? I’m a big Winston fan, so i like the Med action rods… I may have to cast a “circa” just to see…
I have to say though, the naming of these rods is a little odd for me…I nurse my lines along for as many days on the water as I can. I cast them on the grass, but clean and treat them every 4/5 trips out as well. I have a rio gold that should be replaced, but if I clean and treat it I can get 2 trips out of it. So I like what Ralph is saying about keeping the set up the same. I also like a DT on my 4wt and lighter rods, they roll cast very nice and they last twice as long… 😉
2005 toyota 4runner.. Nice ride, has issues with bigger folks, my 14 year old who is 6’5″ kind of folds to get in….LOL
