Sage is coming up with a new rod series using their propriety Konnetic Technology, or what ever that may be. Unlike nearly all rods these days, the Circa will be a rod that mimics the slow rhythm of glass fiber or bamboo fly rods.

They will start with a 2 weight rod up to a 5 weight rod. It’s obviously going to the LL series type of rod from the early 1990’s next to their faster rod series One and TCX.

The price starting at $745 up to $775 is simply mind boggling. They must be demanding this kind of money because there are people willing to pay such price tags?… I must say I’m curious. It’s always interesting to see what Sage comes up with every now and then.

The rods will be available around end of August or September.

    Jay,
I have seen the adds as well. Strange world, Sage has the circa that is more like the Winston WT (or BIIT), and Winston has the BIIMX which is alot like and XP… It’s kind of like getting a big mac at burger king…?? I’m a big Winston fan, so i like the Med action rods… I may have to cast a “circa” just to see…
I have to say though, the naming of these rods is a little odd for me…

Will it be like the Orvis Superfine series? Those rods are always very supple and present a fly delicately.

The Sage rep dropped by the flyshop this AM and I got a chance to try the 9′ 5wt Circa..Its a smooth caster and incredibly light. The blank is very thin for a 5wt.

Gavin – Any comparison to what’s in the market now?

I really dont know what is on the market these days Brian…I’m long on 5wts and I dont need another.

This one felt like a really nice dry fly stick. Very light, very smooth, but not something your gonna use to boom 75′ cast all day long.

I’ve always wondered why rods are called dry fly rods?…

Jay…Something in my mind said that I’d like this rod to fish for picky risers in glassy water. It also said that
