MemberI would have to say Oakley for sure. I also have had Costas and Action optics. But when I compared them on my last trip… wow Oakley was the best of the best.

MemberHi Justin,
It is ‘my’ pattern although a couple flies look similar to mine. The difference is that I have put some thought in how to prevent the fly from collapsing in the current. Fortunately it is pretty simple to tie! I’ll try to make a video for this pattern anytime soon!
If you have any questions please let me know and I’ll try my best to help you!

Fist you place some medium (black) tubing with x-small (orange on the needle. and tie those together with your thread (I use 8/0)
The tie in a stiff hackel with fibers around 1cm, and make about 5-6 turns and tie off.
Now tie in the zonker, taper the zonker towards the end to make it swim!
and add some copper/rust angelhairs.Tie in the second stiff hackel and make 3-4 turns, tie in third hackel (ostrich/orange) and make 2-3 turns. Tie in some more angelhairs.
If you like add some junglecock feathers. For the final hackel i use a webby hackel that goes from mini marabou to some webby stuff. Like a hackel you would use on a deceiver pattern.
Make sure the stem is thin at you tying off point to prevent a bulky head and make your final 2-3 turns on the thinner tubing and tie of.A drop of zap a gap en slide the x-small turbo cone (gold) on to the x-small tubing and press down hard! Cut the tubing leaving 2mm of tubing to burn so you fix the cone in place.

And lake ovm here in the netherlands can be good as well! it is dirt cheap and the trout are big! up to 3ft! The fishing isn’t easy but if you know how and where it can be amazing! If you have any questions just let me know.
