Use a flylipp on either a clouser or deceiver in the colors you want, it will cover a lot of the water column.

1) EP fiber brush
2) Craft fur spun head like the sasquatch or chubby muffin
3) Wool stacked or spun
4) Heavily hackled head will push a lot of water
5) Heavy hackle with a cone head
6) Small popper head with wooly bugger body – see Bob Petti’s flies at Fly fish ohio
With some GSP thread deer stacking deer hair is not really as difficult as many people make it out to be
