MemberI didnt think that I was a gear junky until I had to repurchase “everything” in one fail swoop. When you do that – you really realize what you have collected over the years. AND I REALIZED…. I had a collection. I have changed my insurance policy to reflect the value of these things.
Mike, A trip to the deep deep south sounds like a whole lot of fun. It will be a couple of years because Ginny and I have a newborn to think about. But we will be dragging her to all these destinations when time comes. I will take you up on the trip but I know it will be a little while before doing that sort of travel.
Rolf, I ordered the Mcfarland Spruce Creek – A small stream bomber 6′ – 5wt. He is renaming it the “Amelia June” after our new born daughter – instead of inscribing his usual Spruce Creek, he is putting Amelia June – My wife does not know this and it will be a great surprise to her. The rod is presentation grade with blued hardware, burled amboya reel seat, down locking screw lock with roping detail, an agate guide, a Scott G2 formed grip. I am excited about this rod because it is special to me for many reasons and it is going to be a beauty.

MemberI ask a similar question a while back but wanted a little stouter rod. I have a little Winston WT that fits your bill perfect and it is my favorite little rod – the LT is a little faster and I’m not sure that they make one that short – I think 7’9″ is as short as they go. The WT comes in a 2wt 7″ 2 piece (3 1/2 foot is not to bad to pack). Scott G2 is 2 wt 7’7″ and another sweet little rod – Its bigger brother is my daily rod.
I have ordered a McFarland glass rod by suggestion of some folks here and I am also working with a builder on a bamboo rod. BUT you’ll have to wait through this season to get one made. I also cast the diamondglass and really liked it but I need another rod like another hole in my head. My rods are starting to look more like a collection, so I need to stop for a while.

MemberSome streams like this, you have to break out that tan egg pattern that is hidden away deep inside the box. You hate to do it but after all – You are matching the hatch.

MemberWhen you start talking RAM and numbers of other sites using your server, those numbers kind of floored me. I had no idea. I could see some lag on the photoblog but I expected that and some of the photo heavy threads had some lag which is also normal. I only saw real lag when I was working wireless at home.
I guess I’m jaded when it comes to servers and computers and RAM and all the geek speak. Basically with graphics, RAM is the name of the game and I have 4g on my MBP and 16g on my PRO . Our server at the office is a monster with 700tb of space and 32 gig of RAM.
I am out of the loop on the web hosting game – web needs in general. I need to research that a little before jumping into that part of the game.
Thanks Zach for keeping it speedy.

MemberI use our office Xrite system as well. Not very friendly the first couple of times you use it.
I’ve use the spyder and like it because it is friendlier – cost is better also.

MemberGreat photos… Looks like a great trip – I’m jealous. I love the focus on number 5 & 6. That tells what he is focusing on. “There is a fish in that hole – I just know it!” and the last shot tells it all. Great picture.
Getting rid of Bad Composition – Take a second look before deleting those images. Cropping is magical especially when taking action shots. Get the shot and crop it later.
Great work Mike.

MemberI just checked iPhoto as well. Simply select the photos you would like to resize. File/Export and change the scale image to the size wanted. Click on export and make a new folder for your images. Bingo. Your done.

MemberIf you use PS I gaurantee you it does a far better job 🙂
In photoshop you can resize using actions or as a Batch and if you have the whole suite you can do it in seconds through Bridge – 2

MemberHere is a great quote from a buddy of mine:
“My only fear is that when I die, my wife sells all my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.”
That’s why I have appointed a curator… with integrity, got to have integrity…
Since our house burned, we learned quickly what we had and what we had paid for it. $12000 worth of camping gear alone and another $14000 worth of fishing equipment. “YOU CANT DRIVE THAT… That is how much my Subaru cost” to quote my wife. The fly boxes we carry is much like the jewelry the wives wear but we do not insure them the same way. We should.
About half way there, we now have the receipts for everything and it is all filed away – Locked in a fire box… until the flood comes.

MemberIn school I was an avid kayaker and would always schedule classes to meet the needs of my trips – no mondays or fridays. Good for drinking as well, in Athens because the drink night was always Thursday.
