I understand completely, and have only been to one fly tying class (free) since I started tying (and that was about a month ago)
Go to YouTube and look for fly tying videos, and you can do a search online for tying videos.

Are you fishing from the bank or are you in a float tube/boat?
The only time I have ever fished a stocked lake for trout the guide told me the following things; trout in a lake move in pods so trolling the bait is a good way to find them.

do you have a fly shop in the area? Maybe even in the Dallas or Fort Worth area?
What exactly do you want to know, maybe you can start the process on your own.

Look up knot wars and watch the videos of the knot testing they do. The reason I say this is because the knots youare tyingmay be hindering your tippet strength.
Try the same test with other knots. Also try this, tie a piece ofheavier mono or braid to the scale then tie the tippet to that and then tie another piece of mono to the other end and pull on your nail.

These are some great shots and I can tell the owners and dogs enjoy the fishing, and the part after the fishing.
I have a boxer and he is a little to high strung for me to take him to the river.

    Those are great looking Bob.
I need a longer shank, or at least I need to make the body more full (one of the things I noticed after the shot was taken)

    Thanks again

    Zach,
I am no Biologist, but I do have some in the building. 😀

I have fished for shoal bass over the last couple of years and I have never heard of any of the guys I have spoken with about Shoalies saying they compete for the same area as a white bass.
I have heard of the white bass runs in the spring, and they have not been in the same water as shoalies.
