    Hey Guys,
I will be heading to Tampa in April and I am guessing snook will be the main target.
I would like to tie some flies for the trip.
Any suggestions? Are there any step by step instructions available anywhere?
    Thanks

My favorite snook fly is a schminnow.

I use none other than my D.T. Special (variation). Haven’t used any other snook fly in years.

I know zero about saltwater fly fishing, so I’ll be flying blind, but these and the aforementioned shminnow are considered must haves from what I understand. Here is another one I stumbled upon.

I plan to carry a variety of deep clousers too. I have been told any color works as long as it is white. Just to cover my bases I’m packing some clouser floating minnows, and a few gurglers.

    Keith,

Like I stated, my version is a varition. I do not splay the hackles, preferring to face each other. I don’t cover the shank with thread. I build the head, tie it off, add 3D prism eyes and coat with epoxy.

I’ve literally caugth several thousand snook on this fly.

No. It’s a white neck hackle. The beauty of this fly is that it’s quick and easy. Tie in four hackles in the rear, add one and palmer it for the collar. Build up head, add eyes and epoxy.

    Then, it’s time to fish.

I have fished down from tampa off of anna maria island for years, and two flies (in addition to the shminnow) rock the house down there: Polar fibre minnows, olive and off white, with some weight tied in… absolutely deadly, and tan and white sea deucers are the ticket.

Thanks again for the suggestions guys, and I just tried my first SeaDucer last night, white and red. Nice easy tie!

I am not exatly sure where we will be fishing yet.
