    I’d love to, some day.

The Museum’s exhibit is well worth seeing; some amazing artifacts, actually. The weekend was billed as historic, and maybe was, but what fun spending time with Diana Rudolph, the incredible Joan as always (casting in the rain), Lori-Ann Murphy, Diane Michelin, Fanny Kreiger, Selene Dumaine, Kathryn Maroun, and all the rest.

    Nice!

For those of us across the Pond, what was the research about?

    Thanks for the good input.

With trees that mimic brook trout all around, who can help but go fishing in September?

    Hi,

    You’ve been very patient!

To not answer your question directly:

You can get a better idea of your potential readers, maybe, if you already below to a group or association somehow linked to quail hunting.  Are you part of “community” somehow?

For instance, I write about cane fly rods, outdoors/nature in Maine, but I already was attending rodmakers gatherings and part of Flyfishinginmaine.com.  While I still had no way to be certain, I could at least bounce a draft off some people and see the reaction.

Do the people you know who would read your book use e-readers?  Not that you know everyone who hunts, of course, but it’s something to think about.

So, some thoughts on topic: E-books have the advantage of no printing costs (paper, etc), so some publishers see them as a way to make a small niche book profitable.  I really don’t know what you should expect in the contract, but I’ve heard 50%.  If someone else does the publishing, including e-publishing, and you don’t want to do it yourself, you can factor in that when considering the contract.

    Just my 2 cents,

    Kat

    Thanks for posting this.

Maybe it’s my former English background as well, but I certainly notice the confusion relating to the use of rod maker and rodmaker.

    Hi,

Home on a dial-up tonight so I can’t get the page, but …

David Ondaatje as in Winston Rod Company was what you were thinking, maybe?

    Hi,

We’ve found that they’re required, but that we can just call to get one, and then write down our license number to carry when we fish the Sanibel area.

    Hi,

Maybe this site will help (lists Orvis rods and approximate prices):

    Hi,

You may have all heard: John Gierach has a new title coming out in May, Fool’s Paradise, with Glen Wolff once again as illustrator.

    Hi,

Doesn’t Bob White do the Gierach illustration for Fly Rod and Reel?

Glenn is the Michigan artist who teamed up with Jerry Dennis at times.
