MemberI’m the master plan estimator for a large, Texas home builder. I work at our main office, where all of the support staff is located. We have offices in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston and build in all three cities.
In short, I review all of the plans (and we have a lot) that come out of our CAD department to be new master plans for all of our communities. We do most of our estimating by computer programs, but some estimates still have to be done by hand. I have to review the plans to make sure they are correct and have all necessary information, including the embedded computer information. Otherwise, garbage in=garbage out. So, I mark up and review a plan like your high school English teacher marked up your term paper.
Basically, it is a lot of data entry and minute details. I also do a little programing on one of our programs that does some of the estimating. Once all of this is done, I can then help my boss, the VP, do sales price analysis and run reports, etc.
I have a beautiful and wise wife of 2.5 years, who I enjoy sharing life with every day.
Hobbies: Photography, fly fishing & tying, shooting, and snowboarding.

MemberI recently went through the same thing.
First, get insurance.
I ended up going with this bag:http://www.naneupro.com/products/mo-a/
Then I went with one of these, in size small, which will fit around the camera gear foam core in the camera compartment, making it waterproof:

MemberGood point Labrati, …I’ll try and tweak the ones where the horizon is not level, and repost.

MemberI like the new version a lot. I am picturing the text at the top. Is there going to be text on either side of the fly, or only above it? I think the green background compliments the fly….looks like a caddis pattern. It almost kind of mimics an underwater perspective of a river.
I’m just starting out in fly fishing photography, so I still have a lot to learn, but I like the ‘feel’ of this image.

MemberYep, good call.

MemberThanks guys.

MemberYeah, I’m not pulling the trigger any time soon.

MemberAll of the pics are great, but I especially like #1! Wyoming and the Tetons hold a very special place in my heart (as for many I am sure). Where in general is the tri basin divide?
john michael white
MemberIt is now at the top of my wish list.

MemberI shoot a canon 10 D currently, which is a 6.3 mp camera. You can use a calculator in the link below to see at what aperture diffraction comes into play. For me, it is at f/8 (using 20/20 vision, not the industry standard which is less critical) : http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/diffraction-photography.htm
scroll down to the bottom of the article for the calculator.
Interestingly, enough, the camera body didn’t make a difference (at least comparing a 6.3 mp to a 10 mp like the 40D), you still end up with the same result.
Adep is in the creative mode and is above the Manual setting on your dial.
In the past, I have taken pictures in both manual mode and also experimented with the adep setting.

MemberYeah, Aaron, that was my understanding too until recently. As I have been reading, I learned that it seems that your maximum sharpness is somewhere in the middle range of aperture… say 2 stops less than wide open to about f8. Apertures smaller than this achieve large DOF, but the image quality may suffer due to diffraction.
It seems to me, from what I have read so far, that the maximum sharpness with maximum DOF, would be achieved by using the best part of a particular lens, say f 5.6 – 8.0 set at the hyperfocal distance (you may be able to go larger aperture with a 2.8 lens?) But all of this is what I am still trying to resolve in practice.

MemberI really like the middle picture.

MemberAaron,
Out of curisoity, what were your respective apertures on the pictures above?

MemberTim Hawkins is hillarious.

MemberI was wondering if you just hand held it against the circular polarizer.
john michael white
MemberThat’s what I was wondering too, Bill. I haven’t had time to pull out the gear and take a look. I was also wondering if it may limit my field of view by having to stack so much stuff on the front of the lens. I assume that you would mount the cokin filter holder first, then the circular polarizer would screw into that, and then mount the square ND grad filter in one of the cokin filter holder slots?
john michael white
MemberI will have to start experimenting with that combo.

MemberThanks for the compliment Mike, I’m glad you enjoyed them.
