jeff s MemberMichael,
Were you guys at Brookville?Jeff jeff s MemberI see the really crappy bottom end stuff getting squeezed out as time progresses. There will always be a market for a $30 fly rod, but in a few years, a $30 fly rod will be today’s $100 fly rod. I’ve seen it with guitars over the years. The lower end of the mid priced range today is what used to be mid price quality ten years ago. All in all, it’s a good thing for consumers, but the price to pay is fewer jobs in America. I can walk into any music store today and, for about $400 pick up a pretty decent sounding acoustic guitar. Ten years ago, that was not the case. Of course, I am a gear junkie and the two acoustics I play most frequently cost over $2,000 each. Why? Because I can afford it and there really is a difference. I guess that’s why people will spend big bucks on fly rods. If they can afford it and they can see/feel the difference, they will spend it. I have a couple higher end fly rods, but I bought them used for less than half the new price. I do, however, like my Martin guitars. ;D I guess if I was a good enough caster to be able to tell the difference between a Scott G2 (one of my rods) and the new Helios, I’d spend the bucks. Today, I’m sure I do not cast up to the capabilities of my Sage or my Scott rods (or my Redington for that matter). Therefore, the Helios would not make a difference in my casting or fish catching abilities. Now, when someone comes out with a rod that guarantees 20″ + trout on every cast, count me in. ::) Jeff jeff s MemberI spent about 30 minutes test casting a 7’6″ 3wt a few months back and it was a really nice casting rod. jeff s MemberI have a 7’6″ 3wt SLT and a 9′ 5wt Scott G2. jeff s MemberI just bought the 3 size Ross Rythm from Bass Pro for my 5 wt or my 7 wt, not sure which rod it’s going on, but for the price, I couldn’t pass it up. I am using an Orvis BBS 2 on my 7.5′ 3wt and it’s a very nice little reel. Jeff jeff s MemberBe careful, us Kentucky boys take our bluegrass music and Martin guitars seriously jeff s MemberI’d like for the world to be at peace and no hunger. Barring that, a nice 7wt rod and a new Fishpond vest isn’t going to hurt a thing. Jeff jeff s MemberWhere am I happiest?
That’s an easy one, anywhere I’m able to spend time with my son. Specifically when we’re on a stream sharing a run. Sometimes, just watching him sit on a rock looking butterflies is all it takes to make me happy.Jeff My boy watching butterflies

jeff s MemberIf you have some time on your hands (when you retire, that may be a possibility) you can do what one of my freinds did and build a truck vault. jeff s Membersame dog took a dump on the back seat of your BRAND NEW 4×4 would you be happy about it ? jeff s MemberIt could be that he’s asking too much or it may be he has not found the right buyer. jeff s MemberI say if a man wants an Elvis scrimshaw and a purple tassel on his rod,
by god more power to him.Sign me up. I really like the purple tassels, make mine velvet to compliment the Elvis theme and I’m in. OK, my current stable:
 Scott G2 9′ 5wt, Ross Rythm reel
Sage SLT 7’6″ 3wt Orvis BBS II reel
 Redington 8′ 7wt Cabelas reel
St. Croix Premier 8’6″ 5wt Ross Flycast reel.
Eagle Claw Fibreglass 8′ 7wt Cabelas reel (beater but fun to fisy)My son uses a Cabelas stow a way 7piece 7’6″ 4wt with a Ross flycast reel. Wow, didn’t realize I had accumulated that much hardware. Hope the wife is not reading this. Jeff jeff s MemberWelcome! Jeff.
I really like your portrait photo! very very nice!
you know, like “good old day style” 😀The story behind that photo is really the shoes. My son and I got to the stream, got all decked out in our waders and all. jeff s MemberHi,
