My Macbook from 2007 is still kicking strong, which is remarkable considering how hard of a life its had. Daily use being slung around in a shoulder bag, thrown onto my bed, dropped, having coffee spilt on it. I don’t want to sound like too much of an apple fanboy, but every one of my friends who own PCs have had to replace theirs at least once in the time I’ve owned mine. I’ve had no experience with CS5, but it’s been great with earlier photoshops and LR3.
You’re killing us Jack. Isn’t it spring season there for you? Do the browns feed equally well all spring/summer?

They typically feed more voraciously early season, but then summer brings about a lot more surface action. So reasonably consistent through spring and summer. Come March and April feeding slows down when the libido fires up.

Sure have. I’m yet to get one myself as I think they look utterly ridiculous (this may seem rich coming from a man that wears tights…). However, I did borrow a friends for a trip into the depths of Fiordland and it was an utter godsend.
NZ certainly has a few holes in the ozone above us, but I’m not sure that’s the reason for the tights. It’s more the style of fishing that necessitates them.
P.s. Just got out of the west coast bush. One of the best opening trips I’ve ever had. Truly special. I’ll put some pictures up in the next few days.
An average day fishing for me involves walking 20-30km. I’m sure as heck not going to do that in waders! Polyprops dry quick, give you a little warmth when you’re in the water and a bit of protection from scratchy plants when you’re walking through the bush. But the biggest reason is to stop sandflies. Sandflies were birthed by satan after he stumbled upon on a sapphic orgy of harpies.
Plus, they’re obviously extremely fashionable. Milan just hasn’t caught on yet…
Fishing season starts on October 1st, so in just a couple of days I should have a fair few trip reports coming through in the next couple of weeks. The anticipation is palpable.
I’m surprised no one asked so I’ll go ahead: who are the ladies?! 🙂

I’m increasingly convinced that there’s a direct correlation between the efficacy of a streamer and the sheer absurdity of its name. Sexual references appear to garner bonus points.

As I discovered today a fiery hot bowl of kimchi ramen is an effective, if temporary, cure to a sore throat.
That website is brilliant! It’s really interesting seeing the reaction about the colour splash. Personally I think I agree with you guys (other than still finding it kind of fun to play around with the magnetic tool on PS), but when this set featured in an online mag over here in NZ one of the strong reactions we got was that the heavy PP shots were amongst peoples favourites. Moral of the story: people don’t have much taste.

Cheers Brian. To be honest that photo was more a result of playing around on photoshop and doing something a little different from all the other photos I’ve taken. I did quite like how the orange was so much brighter than any other colour in the original photo, and I guess wanted to emphasize it by dropping the rest of the colour.
Don’t worry Tim, I’m more than used to such reversions. It was great meeting you guys too – that DVD Paul lent us brought about more than its share of hilarity.
Dave – I may well get in touch with you about the AE-1 body. My current one has just started to leak quite a lot of light. I’ll see if I can remedy it, otherwise I’ll be in touch.

Oh no you don’t… There’s a big difference between the round robin and a knockout match. I don’t actually see an upset loss in the round robin as a particularly bad thing. It’ll show up the teams faults and improve their determination no intend. And lets face it, Aus are still going to go through to the next stage.
My flat survived both quakes astonishingly well. The biggest disruption for me personally came in the smaller June quakes, which happened during our study week. After the February quake I volunteered for a week with civil defence to lend a hand – to be honest I felt a little guilty that my place had so completely escaped damage.
